Thread: Why the PA war system is horrible.
Aries, I can see what you mean, and it would be a perfect solution, if only it was another game, where all players was warriors... But thanks god, it's SWG, that has a lot else than war to offer, therefor to prevent girefing and abuseness, it can't and most defintly shouldn't the way you suggest... sorry...
It's the same reason why, you just can't attack anybody without duelling, and they accept (If he/she/it are covert)...
But if you want that system intregreted, we can start with how you would like being attacked every minute you're online... (Just tell me your server, and if I was paid, I would gladly find some friend, and then attack you all the time... because it seems what you like it to be
)
i appreciate your feedback and i appreciate it. doesn't it make you guys a little mad when you can't attack someone talking trash, and you have to just put up with it. star wars galaxies is shifting from a war game to a purely crafting game. i'm not saying a bloody free for all, but i mean there should be more fighting. star WARS.
Sometimes Aries, I really feel like you do... and that would be the best... and wouldn't mind having the system, if we could quarantee, that there was no griefers, but alas, there is... ![]()
I think the developers have taken the right step to prevent people from just running around and killing everybody...
Aries, they have a way to prevent the trash talking aspect. If someone is trash talking, won't accept your duel, type /addignore name and put an end to it. You no longer hear them, let them say what they will and move on. If they try to follow you, grief you further, report them. CSRs do check into the reports and take action accordingly if they need to.
Allowing a system where anyone can attack anyone would simply cause much more horrific griefing that there would be no simple solution to except quit playing. If anyone could attack anyone, then ignoring wouldn't work. Then they'd just keep attacking you until you logged off. What would it solve? Nothing. It would ruin the game because the same people would grief and grief and it would be openly allowed because they changed the system to do so.
That's why when and if they make changes to the way PA Wars work, it has to take some careful thought and consideration so the above scnerio does not happen. I admit, at times it doesn't seem much like there is a lot of fighting, but that's the way things are. Some people enjoy PvP and heavy PvE, where as others enjoy crafting and roleplaying. The game has to suit EVERYONE who plays, not just a single group. The devs are doing the absolute best they can to try to accomodate everyone and I commend them for the effort.
With the upcoming GCW, Droid, and Combat pass they are making, things should improve greatly during that, especially with the GCW in making it feel like a real war between the Rebels and Imperials. A little patience is key, you can't code an entire new system overnight, it takes time, teamwork, and testing. Any changes they make also have to be heavily considered because it can adversly effect the entire game, especially allowing a Guild war system like you proposed.
Think of everyone who plays the game, and not just how you like to play and you'll have a much better understanding of their decision making process. They want to make the game great, why? Because the better it is, the more successful, and the more money they all make in the long run. They aren't out to ruin anyones fun, make a terrible product, or anything else people claim they are doing, because it doesn't make sense. You don't make a terrible product if you wish to keep your job. They are doing a wonderful job so far and I have faith they will continue to do it. The game is moving forward, but everyone has to be open to change as well when the players use a system they didn't intend it to be used in and have to make changes to protect the general community.
That's my opinion on this. Didn't mean to rant. ![]()
