Thread: Need some help here
I just set up my Slice n' Spice shop outside of Mos Espa. Im just starting so anjy help would be great. I do have a few questions for anyone that can answer. 1. Getting supplies for my Spices is harder than I thought. Is there anyway I can set up harvesters to get the stuff for me? Also how would I find out where to put the harvester and what im actually extracting from the ground? I need food supplies, metal, organics, gases. Is there anyone out there that can shed some light on this for me? 2. Slicing has been rough. I have tried lots and failed every time. Is there a trick beside a 50/50 chance? I have heard of something called a FAN. If I could get my hands on one that would be great. If any Slicers out there could tell me what to do that would be great. Im not looking for hand outs, Ill pay for what ever is needed, credits are not a problem. I just need to know what to do and what I need to get it done. Anyone out there think they have any answers for me?
Hiya
To adress the resource issue anybody with Engineering IV can make you all the personal extractors you need for the different types of resources. You'll need survey tools aswell to find the right location but any artisan with a generic crafting kit can make you what you need. Survey tools can also get samples of the resources if you don't want to place extractors. I would recommend getting at least novice artisan, if you havn't alread, if you want to find your own resources.
FAN's can be used to increase your slicing chance at higher levels and I believe they can be made my armor and/or weaponsmiths. Not 100% sure about the details as I havn't got that far yet.
Hope this helps a little

FANs or flow analyzer nodes are made by slicers (you get the schematic at level 2 slicing). It takes 40 copper to make one node and it is a single use item.
Sylynce, If you're having trouble finding resources, or don't have time to go around and look (remember they run out eventually and new locations spawn), then just check the bazaar and buy from there.
I have a smugglers guide available on my site which focuses on slicing; see http://reavus.ca/
Ummmm your harvesters will not last that long. I would seriously reconsider that move. Even if you put in enough power and money, the harvesters break after about 4 days. I had 5 harvesters go Poof. They all just disappeared, which I'm told is what they do when they get too much damage. If they just disappear all that money and power are wasted and the mineral or chemical is all gone too. No way to empty the hopper of a harvester that isn't there anymore.
And if they dont break you will not get more than 4 or 5 days of the resource before it changes and dries up. The Devs have all resources set up on a timer that exchanges resources on a regular basis. SO you may think you have 5 to 8 days of a resource but lets say that resource has already been on the planet for 7 days.... you just put in power and maintenence for 5 and you only get 1 day of that resource.
Just think about it or give a friend admin powers on your harvestors. At least that way you'll not waste all that time, money and power.
What are you talking about???!!
Harvesters work great... so long as you pay their upkeep! And if you don't, then they "break". If at the point you don't pay their repair costs they will fall apart and then disappear.
And yes resources move around, that's how it works (and a fine system it is). As long as you have about 1500 credits remaining in your upkeep pool then you can redeed your harvester and move it to a new location.
1. from the borvo the hutt quest, he's on naboo somewhere
2. pearls are items that are sometimes looted from krayt dragons (tatooine)-theya re used for making lightsabers
3. There are many NPC's that give holos, for rebels a good one is dark troopers, i think stranded rebel pilots on endor are good for imperials
