Thread: Player Association Symbols
I would love to see emblems for player associations. It would be nice to have a simple color/symbol combination that PA's can select for themselves. I loved the emblem idea in DAoC, where our entire guild wore the colors and symbol on a cloak or shield.
Uses for PA emblems:
1) PA Halls. Those large flags that wave on PA Halls would be the perfect place to be able to set the PA's graphic.
2) Decorations. Allow architects to create a few interior decorative symbols (flags, crests, etc) that when purchased and "activated", would take on the person's PA emblem. They could then place it anywhere in their house.
3) Clothing/outer wear. This would be more difficult, but if there were at least a few garments that couldbe imbued witha PA's emblem on it someplace... like the left breast, back, or shoulder.
Any other thoughts? I am sure some of these would be more difficult to code then others, but it would be so great to have these additional shows of loyalty.
I love it, I have an emblem idea for my PA as soon as I figured on being the leader of it (we started on the penny-arcade forums and I sorta had to pull it all together) and if I ever get around to making a website thats deffinitely going to go on it however that really doesn't mean squat if noone else knows it exists. Well this would allow that.
I can't see it being put on clothing due to coding hassles or whatnot but deffinitely on or inside of structures. Only the PA hall could have it and how about on those flag things on the front of Corellian and I think gen and noobian have them. Tat's kinda get screwed in that regard so on the staircase might be the right spot. Also crests of it as items, or even badges. Just 3 or so badge types that your special emblem can be put on and you'd have to name them "in honor of...buying me dinner" or whatnot.
The only problem would be getting this image put into the game. Now if there was a way to do this (and I"m sure there is) via emailing the image, thanks to a special topic that leaders of PA's would be given, and then us receiving a special code to enable the emblem on the items and the newly crafted PA's. Let things of an unnacceptable nature just be dismissed out of hand and the regal looking ones allowed in.
YES, totally agree. Just make it like designing and icon. This can't take up too much space.
so I have top 5th issue now
Well, the reason why the DAoC system worked is because all of the emblems were pre-made. No DAoC guild could just make up their own, theyhad to choose from a list (ie. crossed swords, or dragon, or castle, there were a few dozen to select from) thenpick colors to go with it. The customer service overhead of having every PA in the game submit an emblem, then have that image transfered into the game so every single SWG player would end up having it on their computerjust wouldn't be feasable.
Even loading a set of premade images/emblems intoSWG is no small deal.Every time they add a new image (ie. mounts with saddles, vehicles, etc) it requires a huge patch and is actually a really big effort. This is why you don't see a lot of variety in the apperance of some items... graphics are carefully prioritized.
I was thinking of starting this suggestion small, by allowing PAs to choose Rebel, Imperial, and perhaps Planetary symbols that could be flags on PA Halls and maybe standalone banners. Perhapscolors could be chosen as well.
My philosophy is going to be to start by requesting features that canreally be implemented without months and months of work. However, once these foundations are in place, they can be expanded over time to give us more of the variety we want. Right now we have next to zero definition and variety in the image of Player Associations. The way I see it, some is better than none. By starting small, we are more likely to get something implemented this lifetime. Then, we will have a foundation to build upon as time goes on.
Ifanyone wouldlike to see me take a different approach though I am always open to suggestion. ![]()

Good idea... just some very basic choices to start with. I agree that we will never get user-designed graphics (I can just imagine some of the more vulgar graphics that some PA's could come up with).
But even just to start with faction symbols or basic colors would be a huge step.
Add this to the PA wishlist please....along with factional/pa banners.
Best idea I've heard today ![]()
In addition to outside the PA hall and stuff.
How about in cities. Any guilds belonging to a city can have their flag flown outside city hall ![]()
Btw: It's a V and a W stacked (Unfyr Warriors) because you know, in the old days there was no letter V and U was shaped V.

Also, btw, I made this 100% from scratch
It's very nice, kinda reminds me of the Irken emblem.
My page is just starting to get made (yeah I"m ultra lazy) if you want to check it out here. http://www.geocities.com/sp1785/PAC-Homepage.html?1070740751109but don't expect much I just started on it like an hour ago and will probably quit for a week or two in a bit![]()

I still think this was a great idea....
It's actually something that's being asked for in the tailor forum as well. Not necessarily PA emblems, but starting off with faction emblems to coincide with the GCW revamp. If they could do that, I don't see how porting in a few dozen other emblems would be a problem. Altho, it might steer the game away from the 2 faction system. That's a whole different issue.
