Pistoleer Archive
Thread: I am new to the pistoleer career and need some advice
Well my glorious plan to begin star wars galaxies and head down the commando path was thwarted by the complete lack of any coherence in that profession, so as a result i decided to take a path i find much more interesting, a combo path of Smuggler and Pistoleer.
I believe the dirty fighting line of smuggler can work wonders when combined with the prowess of a pistoleer, but my main question is this: What are the must have abilities to start off Pistoleer? as i understand it I should get meleedefense first but what other abilities are working and work well? I think ill have to get feign death right after i achieve meleedefense because come on is there a cooler ability in any game (ex-monk from EQ talking here)
On a side note i would love to have fiegn death in real life. Boring conversation, simply colapse on the floor until the party leaves. In trouble for coming home late, well mom wont be so concerned with your curfew when u appear dead on the floor. The possibilities are endless.
Keep in mind that feign death does not work in Star Wars like it did in EverQuest. Here, when you feign death the mob still has to come over and hit you in order for you to feign death. In other words, you can still actually die.
Pistol Melee Defense I is by far the best skill IMHO, but keep in mind that it requires Combat Experience, which you get at 1/10th the rate you acquire pistol XP. In other words, worry more about how you are going to spend your pistol xp, since there are options for how you will progress through those branches.
Pistol Stances and Grips seem to offer the best line of special moves in the pistoleer tree. You get a new special at each step, not to mention you get additional defense versus special attacks like dizzy, stun, and knockdown.
Personally, I like the Bounty Hunter's line of pistol specialization. You get added accuracy, speed, and specials that kick the llama's ***, but then again its a huge investment in skill points that isn't possible if you have other professions in mind.
I've easily created over 10 different templates in the process of trying to decide how I was finally going to spend all of my skill points. I've changed my mind repeatedly over the course of a single day. I'd say deciding on your profession is like choosing your major in college, minus the female interaction ![]()
LOL nice post again ive read a few of yours and you are always comprehensive. Major in college eh? Well considering i have issues with that right now it doesnt bode well for me there
But seriously thanks for the info didnt even realize that line was combat xp, that makes things much easier, well not eaiser just less desision.
I worked for a long time trying to come up with a good way to do some pistoleer, the dirty fighting line from smuggler and the pistol BH line but just couldnt make it work well enough to satisfy me, so I will probably just go with smuggler/pistoleer. but thanks for the info regardless.
