Thread: Best advice for pistoleers
The best advice I could think of for pistoleers as follows (in no partricular order):
-Dont wear armor (unless it's rebel or imperial)
-Always carry health packs
-Pay whatever amount you can for a good gun
-Solo missions are best (unless on endor or lok)
-Make nice with weaponsmiths
-Always carry weapon upgrades with you (and use them)
-Take some time to advance as a pharmacology (nothing better then being able to heal your for 800H&A)
-When you become a pistoleer climb the STances and Grips section till you get to expert
-Take time to use all your shots and see which work for you.
P.S. Please post replies on this post about tips for being a pistoleer but please post them as one line sentences so they are easy to read for everyone.
- Grouping with pets increases your XP for each pet you group with. So buy a cheap droid and possibly take up the Creature Handler profession and group all the pets with you while you solo (don't send them out to attack) and you will get significantly more xp then if they weren't grouped (I get 4422XP per Giant Baz Nitch instead of 3200).
- Check out http://www.swgcenter.com. It has a nice listing of the Pistol special moves and Pistoleer trainers.
- Use Health Shot 1 and 2 on enemies that usually take over 60 seconds to kill.
- Health Shot 1 and 2 are very effective against monsters with high armor class rating (use Examine to check their armor class) or resists to your weapon type.
- These macros may come in handy: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pistoleer&message.id=2612
- Careful about resists on weapons. For instance, some monsters on Dathomir are 100% heat resistant, which means FWG5 pistols will do no damage to them (unless you Health Shot I guess).
- Careful using PistolMeleeDefense1 (Pistol Whip) too often. It significantly reduces the condition of your weapon. To slow down the decay of your weapon I'd suggest alternating one of the ranged shots between Pistol Whips. Before attempting the alternating attack method, be sure to try to find the fastest pistol you can buy, and possibly have one sliced for speed if it's too slow.
- Slicing and powerups increase the decay rate of weapons. But you can get upwards of 66% better performance from them.
- Fan shot hits 2 random HAM pools with 1 shot. It isn't better then Stopping Shot at destroying mission objectives.
- Don't be afraid to explore or you'll never find anywhere better.

I disagree on the do not wear armor suggestion. With no armor, you will be 0wned in any head to head fight with yellow/red NPC using a blaster.
Well, I suppose that you wouldn't needarmor hunting animals with no ranged attack (Warning Shot).
I don't understand the justification for not wearing armor.
Additionally, if wearing no armor is best, I don't see why Rebel or Imperial Armor should be the exception - their HAM costs seem comparable to normal crafted armor.
Thanks for the great advice
