Thread: I'd like to clarify this for the bounty hunters

A few of you bounty hunters (not all, but a few) seem to be confused about this, so i'd just like to clarify:

A master bounty hunter should NOT be comparable to a master pistoleer in combat with a pistol.

If a master pistoleer and a master bounty hunter have a pistol-only duel, the pistoleer should win, PERIOD. Some bounty hunters argue that because they have to spend so many more skill points than a pistoleer, they should be superior warriors. I might be able to agree with that, but 91 of those skill points HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH COMBAT. By this logic, a master pistoleer who is also a master artisan should be superior in combat toa master pistoleer with no other skills. He spent more skill points didn't he?

This is certainly not directed at all bounty hunters, nor even most. But there are some thatstill have the "i'm a bounty hunter, i should own everyone" mentality. You know, if theBoba Fett wasn't portrayed as just a badass we wouldn't even have this problem.

I honestly think a master bounty hunter and a master pistoleer, in a pistol fight, should be about equal. A Pistoleer specialises in the pistol and nothing else, knows how to use one very well. A bounty hunter, specializes in the pistol to an extent, but also has worldly knowledge of all other weapons, and is able to draw on that experience to fight just as well with one, if not better.

After all, ifa Pistoleer was that much better in combat with a pistol, why would everyone keep paying bounty hunters when a pistoleer obviously has a better chance of hunting someone down.

All in all, my point is: Quit whining, sometimes I think that you pistoleers, more than any other class, are spoiled rotten. Look at we, the smugglers. We require a little over 1 million pistol exp to master our profession and we still absolutely suck with the thing. Look at the Commandos, while you managed to get devs excited about adding little fruity pistol flourishes, they couldnt even manage to get the devs to consider FIXING thier class. Bounty Hunters, too, are recieving the shaft too at this point, given that they are actually paying good money to collect thier bounties, in essence, theyre paying to go to work.

A Pistoleer should be owned by a bounty hunter every time. Heck.. A Pistoleer should be owned by a Dancer with her newb knife. Why? Because, its you "cry-me-a-river" nerf requesting Pistoleer corn-doggers that started the nerf wars and you deserve to be on the bottom rung of the combat professions for that. Call it poetic justice.

Yeah nerf nerf nerf, can you guys say anything else. You want to spend 90 some skill points and be able to kill some one with 217. I hate to break it to you put SKILL POINTS IS WHAT THE WHOLE GAME IS BASED ON!!

I guess i shouldn't be surprised that you guys completely missed the point...

I never said a bounty hunter and a pistoleer shouldn't be equal in combat, i just said that a bounty hunter shouldn't be as powerful with a PISTOL as a PISTOLEER.

And for that guy that made the tired skill point argument, did you even read my post? Have you noted that 91 of those 237 points are from SCOUTING and INVESTIGATION, neither of which have jack **edit** to do with combat? So do you mean to say that a pistoleer can only compete with a bounty hunter if he spends 91 extra skill points on non-combat skills?

equal i am all for but if you are better with a pistol and carbineer with a carbine and a rifleman with a rifle, then who the hell will a BH be able to beat. A BUNCH OF NOOBS, THATS IT.

Would one of the retard BH's please point out where he asked for a nerf of any kind? BH's are setting themselves up to be labeled themost insecure class. Once youbecome the whiniest class, it's hard to get rid of the stigma...

And given how badass BH's are in the movies, I find it really funny that they come crawling out of the woodwork crying to mommy whenever someone mentions game balance. Discuss the topic or go post in the kiddy forum.

BH's don't need to be nerfed. And Pistoleers don't need to be buffed. The point of the post is about pistol mastery.

I believe the Pistoleer has been labled as the whiniest class already... I didn't get a vote though

Well, theres also the arguement that a Pistoleer is only as good as his pistol. I mean, you can know your pistol in and out, over and around, it doesnt mean youll be able to fire it any better than what its worth.

And just because a skill itself is noncombat, doesnt mean it couldnt help out in combat. Scouting, as it is, has what...trapping, survival...umm...I'm not a scout but you get the idea, but like I said, youre only as good as youre weapon, really. And these are pistols, they arent time machines or tactical defense systems, so I'd be willing to bet the man who trains all his life with a pistolwould lose tothe jack of all trades who really likes pistols because, quite frankly, its not that ruddy complicated.
