Hi my new brothers. I was jumping species (couldn't wait for the wookiee armor) and as it so happens the carbineer nerf came in - so now I'm new again, nothing to unlearn, and obviously I've shelved my trusty carbines. I'm thinking pistoleer/smuggler over rifleman just because there are fewer nerf bats waving around this forum, and some dev love (I hear a new stun pistol on its way? dx2 improvements?).
I'm just saying hi, and wondering if a) you think i'm out of my freaking mind for not taking up rifles (yes, I do plan on doing PvP) and b) if you have any advice for me climbing the early rungs. I'm reading the FAQs and searching threads now, no need to repeat yourself...
And yea, i already have a nice republic blaster with that amazing inverted accuracy curve (0@0m, -30@35m, 0@64m).
thanks!

My suggestions: Get two pre-nerf FWG5's. Might cost you a bundle and it might take you a while to get depending on your credit amount, but try. Secondly, get two or three FWG5's that are post-nerf. Get them all sliced by a Master Smuggler, hope for one with a good speed slice, hope for another with a good damage slice, or whatever. You'll need those when hunting mobs rather than using up your pre-nerf ones (use those ONLY for pvp.)
Now, get two nice DX2's, as you might use those up a couple of times each. Get a spare republic, and if you want a good gun for PvP save up money and get a really nice Krayt republic blaster. Might want to get one of those Tangle pistols or the new stun gun, haven't seen it yet.
Get some armor, highly resistant to kinetic ubese is good, or composite. Get some Master Doctor buffs, some muon gold, and hunt gurks on Lok, great XP. Be sure to unequip your weapon when getting missions as it makes them easier so you can finish them more quickly.
After you go Master Pistoleer, you can either go BH Pistol for the added accuracy and Torso shot (great for pvp..or was) or go Dirty Fighting in smuggler for the ranged KD/last ditch (Last Ditch is best if your pistol is 1.4 speed or under.)

Haha, go back is the funniest thing I've ever heard. I was a former Master Carbineer, now a pistoleer, and let me tell you, it's a looooot better than carbineer.

G - thanks a lot for the advice, especially considering where you're coming from.
Completing Jaba for the featherweight fwg5 right now, i don't have nov pistoleer yet so this gun might actually help me!

I didnt mean it as Carbinier was better then pistol.
but your basicly switching one limited ability skillset that killed yourself more then the enemy.
For one that needs about 5 minutes to do any signifigant damage compared to the heavy hitters.
At least thats how i feel personally.

Well, you can kiss the health shot bleeds goodbye, my average 2500-3500 bleed shots has just
succumb to the nerf of taking into effect of armor/resistances etc.
But I'm assuming other professions are the same.

bodyshot2 is your friend, and the only relaible special we have ATM other than fanshot which is overrated IMO.

fanshot overrated?? fanshot is our most useful skill when it comes to leveling up... stopping shot is really good if you get speed tapes to help you lower the specials cap... but stilll.... fanshot, stopping shot, and body shot 2 are the only skills we got worth doing.... and yet moves like disarming shot 2, multi target shot(think thats the name) and double tap could be so much better and usefull if actually fixed... to bad that wont be in along time the way these devs are(i dunno how hard it could be to fix the move code really... but then again im not a programmer so... i dunno)

multi target shot does absolutely nothing but use HAM. i tried it the other day to see what people were complaining about and it didn't shoot a damn thing

FanShot works fine for me...
U do know u have to "tag" ur potential victims 1st (Usually with HealthShot2) for FanShot to actually kick in !
Also, it's only effective in a 35o "V" directly ahead of u ( So if 1 creature/player is in-front & 1 at the back, FanShot will NOT hit both )
