Thread: Republic Blaster bug?? (no, not the cert bug)

I looked a little closer at the stats on my blaster and it says:

Point Blank: +0 @ 0m

Ideal: -25 @ 0m

Max: +0 @ 64m

Is there a bug with these other then the cert bug, where the range modifiers are a bit messed up? Didn't notice it before and can't say as I've heard anyone else mention it. Just wondering if it's supposed to be this way or not.

Thank

That's the way the Republic Blaster has always been, far as I can remember.

Ok, I'm just wondering if it's supposed to be that way or if it's a little un-noticed bug that should be fixed.

I don't know if it's a bug or not but I wouldn't think there would be two different modifiers on it for the same distance. Especially when one is really no bonus, and the other is a big penalty. If there was a penalty at all, I would think being a pistol the penalty would be on the Max range not the PB and especially not the Ideal range.

The Ideal Range modifier is the one that is used, so it's best to switch to another weapon (or at least use one of the Point Blank specials or Pistol Whip) if something gets that close.

No one knows if it's a bug or not, just like no one knows if the DX2's ideal range being point blank is a bug or not. You can see this either two ways:

1.) the DX2 AP1 is a close quarter combat pistol while the

Republic Blaster AP1 is a long rang combat pistol.

2.) Both the DX2 and the Republic Blaster are bugged and should have similar ideal ranges.

Either way it is, SOE can't reduce the range of the republic until it raises the range on the DX2. Ina way, they balance each other out...I would think.

Well here's what I found out. If you are 0m from the enemy (the 0m on the top right corner stat bar) the point blank goes into effect. But if you move away so it says 1m, the ideal range goes into effect.

I know as close as 3m that Max range modifier goes into effect because Im not even bothering to scope these things and my non-adv barrel models outsell the adv barrel models 20:1 due to a .2 speed increase. On my non-scoped, non-advanced barrel models the ideal range modifier is -45 @ 0m. I have yet to actually see anything lower than -10 when standing at any distance from a target. For now I assume that at 0m the Point Blank modifiers go into effect and at every other distance the Max range modifiers go into effect. Enjoy it while it lasts but dont talk about on here too much. If rifleman get wind that this weapon is more accurate at 66m (yes i can even hit things at 66m with this gun) than any of their weapons except the t-21 theyre gonna be pissed
