Thread: fanshot stopping shot or lastditch?
im a tkm going to pistoleer master. i have 1,1,4,4 in pistoleer. smuggler 0,0,3,0
What im wondering is if any pistoleer masters have taken up the dirty fighting line. if so what do you use mostly in pvp?
ive found that depending on the mob or player fanshot sometimes out damages shotting shot.
the cost of fanshot is less and its area affect.
stopping shot generally does more damage but the costs are higher and the delay longer.
Can someone tell me how Last Ditch figures into this?
from what ive heard. i assume the costs are even greater then stoppingshot and the delay longer, but it will do more damage everytime. how much more? hmm
ill probably have answer my own questions soon enough. just want to know what im looking forward to.

I have no Smuggler experience but I can offer some oppinions on Pistoleer...
The Area affect of Fan Shot is a bug and is being fixed soon.
As you stated Stopping Shot does higher damage but has the delay. Fan Shot does about half the damage of Stopping Shot but you can use it 3X faster than Stopping Shot at just about any level in Pistoleerexcept Master Pistoleer which can use Stopping Shot about every 1.5 seconds.
As far as the HAM cost's I can't help you there as I am also a Master Doctor so HAM cost is not a problem for me.

i guess i can take off stopping shot from my specials bar and put lastditch on there
I'd rather have FanShot and StoppingShot over Last Ditch.
I wouldn't give up PanicShot or LowBlow for anything though.

Actually I think the AOE of FanShot is staying in ... it was removed on TestCenter for a short time but that was changed back before it went Live.
As for the original poster, definitely check out Tullius's thread because that's very useful. As a general note, realize that LastDitch is ALWAYS better than StoppingShot -- it has the same delay but hits for more damage.
If your primary focus is pvp, the dirty fighting line is a perfect fit with master pistoleer...providing two of the meanest skills in the game with low blow and panic shot....not to mention last ditch. I tend you start my pvp with a low blow and panic shot, at which point my strategy changes depending on the circumstance....if I'm fighting only 1 opponent, I'll use last ditch but if I'm up against a group I'll use fanshot simply for the AOE. Once you pick up the DF line, you'll enjoy both pvp and pve (thank you feign death)much more and it made me realize just how borked our pistoleer skills are, but our defensive mods and speed coupled with real specials that actually affect the outcome of pvp (like the DF line) make this combo a very nasty threat.

My recommendation to you would be to train another block or two of marksmanship before rounding out dirty fighting. You currently have speed and decent specials in fan shot and stopping shot and although it is arguably the best single shot pistol move in the game, last ditch won't make you significantly more effective than you are now. You already have the ranged knockdown and the delay move from smuggler and the AOE attack of fan shot as well as the power of stopping shot. From my personal experience, the lack of accuracy is hurting you more than the lack of a strong pistol move because you have other specials that can be used. In addition, the accuracy mods make a significant difference in effectiveness morethan the lone addition of last ditch.
Just my opinion.
