This might be a stupid question, but I was wondering when you do a healthshot do you get XP on just the initial shot or does all the bleeding damage afterward also count? I am trying to grind through Pistol XP and don't want to end up making it longer than what it is already.

Yes you need to do some form of damage other than the damage for the DOT to get the xp. Just macro another shot with your health shot and you have nothing to worry about unless the other shot misses. Then you can cycle through the mobs and get your xp when in a group.

any damage you cause counts. thus, bleeding someone to near death and then killing them gives the same xp as slugging it out without any bleeds.

it is no stupid question at all. the answer depends on whether you hunt alone or in a group.

afaik no damage of a health shot counts toward xp distribution, ie if you nearly kill a mob by just using health shot and then you use a rifle to finish it, you will only gain rifle xp. however if you use a pistol to finish it, then you will only get pistol xp.

now if you are in a group and the only thing you do is using health shot, then you wont get any xp from the kill.

so if you are alone and only use a pistol there is no penalty (if you like to call it that way) for using health shot.

That explains the variations I was getting then. When grouped, I would health shot everything in site and then start picking them off. So,if I'm following this correctly Ishould do the haelth shots then an other special or normal attack to increase my XP take.
