first thing after the servers restarted. Giant Dune Kimo's all over the place. More of them than anything. I found this to be my best opportunity to score a kill. So, I got off my bike and I did the bleed. Once it stuck, I jumped on my speeder and let the kimo follow me until it de-aggro'd. The bleed successfully skinned 10k health from its stats. So, I follow on this process about 5 times until the kimo incapped me on my bike from 150m away. It then proceeded to kill my speeder. It didn't db me though, which I found odd. So, I came to and got killed again before I got the chance to heal.

3 time's the charm and I came to at the very close cloning center. I ran to the local vendor for another bike, and headed out. So, it aggro'd me and led me to another kimo that began fighting it. For anyone who's spent any time on lok, kimos fight each other (much like krayts). So, my bleeds combined with the disease of the other kimo, and my shots formulated a dead giant dune kimo. I had a hand at killing about 20 regular dune kimos until I found out only Large Dune Kimo's drop ris armor components. So, I loot it, and voila!!! I got one!!! My first kill and I got one. with that, you can combine the 2 gurk king hides I had looted earlier that evening to mark a highly productive night.

I felt bad for this MCH/nBH camping the spawn area with his 2 graul maulers. He was shocked that i got one and that he had 15 each of the other components needed for RIS and needed just the scales. He had been camping lok for days with no reward. Offered me 5mil credits. I figure, if he can camp the spawns with his creatures and just shoot away at a safe distance, I'll keep the scale. After all, I, too, would love to have a RIS armorplate and leggings. If it's that rare, selling it wouldn't feel like much of a reward in my eyes.

Now, my question, at master pistoleer/TKA, would soloing a kimo be possible if wearing 67% adv ubese, powerboosted, and muon'd? I did rather well on my feet shooting it at my level. After my experience, I believe defense stacks. When the kimo did manage to hit me, it didn't do so much damage that I couldn't heal easily. What killed me was the disease that knocked my action to 1 health. Or would I have to trap it with another kimo so it can be held occupied? Some mercenaries began attacking it, but the kimo nailed them pretty efficiently.

You're not going to solo a giant dune kimo without doctor buffs, powerboost just isnt enough for that disease they have. Its really freaking nasty.

Giant Dune Kimo scale is definently going to be the hardest to get quantity of. Need a few for the quest and about 10 for a full suit. Thats assuming no crits. =-/ I hear crits are pretty commong with these things too.

Peku feathers are only needed for the quest and arent even recomended for the suit due to it being bugged and NS layers being better/eaisier to get.

get adv composite with the 80% kinetic layer, or if you can get some 80% kinetic layer ubese. put some bleeds on it and just sit there with you vk. make sure you are buffed and powerbooster and have plenty of foods and spices around incase things get out of hand. you should be fine.

nice luck, but honestly RIS sucks.

My wife is a master armorsmith (since release) and she's made RIS. The stats are maybe 1-2% points higher than good composite and the HAMs are about the same.

Not worth the effort IMO.

Yeah, Sparky, it's no secret RIS sucks. I just want it as a trophy, nothing more. With decay in effect, I wouldn't work that hard just to see it wither away.

Oh, and for those who haven't hunted kimos I have a big tip. If it aggros you and just stands there, RUN. IT's not really standing there, it's running toward you. If you don't run, you'll be incapped. Before I dropped Master Ranger, I burst run from a kimo to see if it could outrun me. Short answer, yes. Use your speeder.

The dot on the radar is set center mass of the beastie! The business end has to be about a full 40m closer!

My guild and I have killed over thirty of those Kimos, and because of the disease, I don't think there is anyway you can tank solo them. Our TKM has to retreat halfway though the battle with 2 of his three HAM bars black. Tanking Kimos is best left to pets. Stay about 30m away and fire away re-applying your bleeds every few minutes. Use your highest max damage weapon to apply the bleeds as resists don't matter on DOT attacks. I personally use my Krayt FWG for the bleeds then switch back to my Repub for normal damage.

As I see it kiting them is the only way to solo it without pets.

I was trying to kite a Kimo a couple days ago and still got wasted. For some reason my radar and target showed that he was 80+ meters away but then I turned around and he was right on top of me but the radar still said he was 80m! How does that happen?
