Thread: Ddg 120, RgdD 76, MelD 114 -OR- Ddg 105, RgdD 7, MelD 45, Mast. Meditate ?? Which is better??

Here's what I am (or soon will be):
Marksman 0-4-0-0
Medic 0-0-0-0
Scout 4-0-4-0
Creature Handler 4-4-0-4
Pistoleer Master
That leaves me with 52 skill points. My idea was to put them into getting Brawler 0-4-0-0 then Fencer 4-0-0-0 to get another +15 Dodge, +69 Melee Def and +69 Ranged Def. After this, I would be at 120 Dodge, 114 Melee Def, 76 Ranged Def, 95 Pistol Accuracy and 74 Pistol Speed. How does this sound? Any drawbacks or holes? Any other ideas what to do with those 52 points? I don't really want to change what I currently have and I'm almost exclusively PvE.

You might want to consider putting some of it into the meditate tree for TKA. There's a lot of benefit to being able to meditate away wounds, disease and poison, along with powerboost and force of will. That will take 49 of your 52 points. For the 3 that remain, maybe put 2 of them into marksman ranged 1?

/agree Meditate is by far the most beneficial tree that I have climed thus far. I will have to drop it eventually to master Ranger, but it will be very difficult to do so. I LOVED TK, and will likely return to it one day. I am having fun trying out different combat profs atm though. Pistoleer has been fun so far. Next Master - Bounty Hunter!

So, instead of:
Dodge - 120
Ranged D - 76
Melee D - 114
I should do:
Dodge - 105
Ranged D - 7
Melee D - 45
Master Meditative
??
I'm gonna still use pistol all the time, so the above is all that really matters right?

I suggest to get master meditation. The ranged/melee defense is good for PvP, but less for PvE, as mobs will do kinetic damage, so as long as you have good kinetic armor/buffs, there shouldn't be any problem at all. And meditate is always great to have.

Really? What about for NPC's? That is still considered PvE right?

I don't know what these guys are talking about.... meditate is a little overrated. I suggest you grab some more fencer to cap your dodge and get melee mitigation 2. If I were you I'd seriously think about getting 0040 fencer or even 0440 fencer. If you cap on dodge and eat dodge food, you will not have to worry about ranged/melee defense. Hell I bet even capped dodge (125) will suffice in itself.
There are some animals that poison and disease, and that's just about the only use I see in meditate. If you can shrug off small poisons and diseases, you don't need to spend the skillpoints.
I PvP, which takes into account heavy, skilled attacks and poisons, and having 0440 fencer and capping my dodge along with great KD, posture change, and dizzy defenses make 0440 fencer a good move. I know that in PvE you don't get KD/dizzied all too often, but with NPC's now using melee weapons and specials, you might consider grabbing them.
Also, I think with 0030 fencer you get melee mitigation 2 which makes getting hit by melee weapons alot easier to take. If you take up skills in Teriaki (Teras Kasi) Artist to get both meditation and melee mitigation 2, you'd have to go with TKA 4300.
Also, ranged/melee defense are unnecessary if you have high dodge. Maybe you should consider prioritizing fencer before meditate.
Meditate is nice as hell, but picking up the fencer D will be more important in my opinion.

Okay, I'd think that your current template with Fencer 0040 would be the best choice. You get to cap your dodge (making getting melee/ranged defense pointless). You get melee mitigation 2 (decreases the possible maximum damage range that an enemy can do to you by 40% I believe). You also get stellar defense to dizzy and blind. Your +80 def to dizzy will ensure that once you are KD/dizzied by an enemy that you don't stay there for long getting massive damage done to you on the ground.
If you grab meditate, you will get hit both more often and more hard. Aside from on the spot poison/disease disappation (which does NOT work during combat), meditate will only make your life easier after you clone in most cases.
Don't go to the cloner in the first place hehe. I think fencer 0040 would be the BEST choice. It also allows you to spend 3 more skillpoints in medic.
Meditate is nice, but it's like having nice options (TV, minifridge, kick-ass stereo system, etc...) in a car that is soon to drive off a cliff.

Those are really good points Axob. I was thinking the same thing, I mean about meditate. I didn't think about, though, having dodge maxed making the ranged and melee less important. I also like what you said about the blind/dizzy defenses. I think I may go with Fencer 0/0/4/0.
Anyone else have anything to add? I really appreciate all comments.
