I did some basic testing with pistol yesterday and wrote down results that I got.
All testing were done with Scout Blaster from the frog (Attack Speed: 2, Damage 70-140) and my template is Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler/CM. With all my skills moded speed on the gun was 1.27. My pistol speed is +45 and general ranged speed is +50. All of the testing was done in a duel, so damage is calculated as in PvP, not PvE.
Format:
Name of the special move
Dmg: recorded damage during combat
Delay: delay between two moves of the same kind. Because combat spam can only record and display time in seconds, sometimes it's not possible to find out real delay between shots. So most of the times I will put two numbers here. First one is the number that I got most of the times, but from time to time delay between shots would be smaller, or larger. Hands the second number. What this means is if you see 4 seconds (3 seconds), delay between shots is more then 3.5 sec. but lower then 4 sec.

Firearm Strike
Dmg: 30 (Knockdown)
Delay: 5 seconds
Quickdraw
Dmg: 107
Delay: 2 seconds (3 seconds)
Burst Shot
Dmg: 63
Delay: 5 seconds (6 seconds)
Stopping Shot
Dmg: 42 (Root)
Delay: 8 seconds (7 seconds)
Warning Shot
Dmg: N/A
Delay: 5 seconds (4 seconds)
Disarming Shot
Dmg: 53
Delay: 6 seconds (5 seconds)
Fan Shot
Dmg: 125
Delay: 7 seconds (6 seconds)
Intimidate Shot
Dmg: N/A
Delay: N/A
Note: Intimidate Shot does not show up in combat spam
Aimed Shot
Dmg: 107
Delay: 5 seconds (4 seconds)
Placed Shot
Dmg: 98
Delay: 3 seconds (4 seconds)
Ranged Shot
Dmg: 62
Delay: 2.5 seconds
Concussion Shot
Dmg: 31
Delay: 8 seconds (9 seconds)
Panic Shot
Dmg: N/A
Delay: 5 seconds (6 seconds)
Reckless Shot
Dmg: 145
Delay: 4.5
Overwelming Shot
Dmg: N/A
Delay: N/A
Note: Overwelming Shot is broken and doesn't fire at all
Restraining Shot
Dmg: 44
Delay: 8 seconds (7 seconds)
Low Blow
Dmg: 31 (Knockdown)
Delay: 5 seconds
Last Ditch
Dmg: N/A (based on attacker's health)
Delay: On very long timer
After testing all the specials, I decided to calculate how range defense affected my shots. My test target at that time was Master Doctor/Master Ranger with 65 range defense. I went ahead and changed it's template to Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler/Commando/Carbineer that got it's range defense up to 190. After that I fired the same shot (Ranged Shot) with the same pistol as before and recorded the damage. All testing were done with DE-10 pistol.
Range Defense: 65
Dmg: 313
Range Defense: 190
Dmg: 305
As you might've noticed my range defense was up 125 points, but the damage that I was taking was only down by 8 points or 2.5%. At this point I though that range defense might not be working at all (or not working as before CU) and the difference between the damage is due to pistol defense mods. So I decided to lay down pistol and do the test again. Results that I got were very strange:
dmg unarmed: 240
dmg with rifle: 260
dmg with carbine: 299
dmg with knife: 253
dmg with staff: 253
dmg with axe: 253
Obviouslydamage taken is now based on the weapon you have in your hands. But I had 0 skills in rifle/one handed/two handed/polyarm but as you can see there is a difference between damage taken with rifle and melee professions. Even stranger is damage taken with carbine, because I had 0200 carbineer at that time. And at Master Pistoleer I'm still taking more damage with pistol then with any other weapon. So I decided to try surrendering pistoleer skills and check damage taken again.
At Master Pistoleer: 305 dmg
At 4/4/4/4: 249 dmg
At 3/3/3/3: 249 dmg
At 2/2/2/2: 249 dmg
At 1/1/1/1: 249 dmg
At Novice Pistoleer: 249 dmg
At Pistols 4 marksman: 249 dmg
So that proofs two things. First of all, amount of range defense mods do not affect damage taken, second at master pistoleer you are taking 18.4% more damage then at 4/4/4/4 pistoleer. I have no idea what that means, but I really hope both are bugs.
I will try to test speed mods today, because I have a very distinct feeling that they do not work either (at novice pistoleer I was able to fire combination ranged shot->body shot->ranged shot at 1 shot per 2 seconds, and the best I can do at master pistoleer is the same exact speed).

Isn't ranged defense improving the chance not to be hit by a ranged weapon?

No details on the effects of the other pistoleer/smuggler specials? (burst, disarm, restrain, etc.)

Disarming Shot borked?
I was trying to use Improved Disarming Shot last night and from what i saw it did not work as described 
It says it will stop your attacker from useing there weapon for a set amount of time..They never was any type of delay that i saw..

I thought that defence made you harder to hit, not take less damage.
ie, the higher your targets range defence, the more likely you are to miss.
Its the counter to accuracy.

I dont like the delays in the CU even slower then the regular game
