Thread: Best skill to get first as a Pistoleer

Well, I just got Novice Pistoleer yesterday, and now I'm getting close to having the XP for my first box on one of the Pistoleer trees. Do any of you know which one would be the best to get first? I was thinking the one that gives you point blank 2, because later on in that tree, you get Body Shot 3.

Suggestions?

I am not an uber Pistoleer, I wasn't in Beta, and I just made Novice Pistoleer a few days ago. But even though I am greatly looking forward to Body Shot 3, I was thinking of taking a bubble inmarksmanship (2nd ladder) first.

My reasoning is that the higher tier bubbles cost a lot more pistol xp so it's unlikely that I'll be travelling straight up 1 ladder. More likely I'll want to go horizontally so that I can feel like I'm making steady improvements. Even going for a 2nd bubble horizontally is a lot of work. As such I want a skill bubble that will be working for me 24/7, every shot I take. Marksmanship grants increased accuracy so it seems to fit that bill. The special moves granted by the other 1st level pistoleer skills don't seem like much to go after.

Also a Novice Pistoleer is actually a less accurate pistol user than a Master Marksman, until you train Marksmanship 1. I don't like knowing that all those Master Marksman are shooting better than I.

Hopefully a Beta veteran Master Pistoleer will drop into this thread and set both of us straight on how to proceed...

Im not even a pistoleer yet (almost.... just a few more kills...) but i know my first slot will be the one involving speed, as id rather dish quick tidbits than do 300 dmg then wait an hour and a half... not to mention your accuracy drops if the attacker hits you right before you shoot, so never give them that chance.

Unfortunately the box that gives you the speed bonus is in theline that takes Combat XP, the first box of which costs 60000. Yep, that means 600,000 weapons XP.... so you will be getting some other boxes first :/

I am wondering the same thing. I almost have enough xp to buy my first pistoleer skill, and I was wondering if anyone had any info.

i heard the one that gives the skill "melee pistol defense" is pretty awesome. its like a pistol whip, and it does a really good amount of damage.

A couple of related questions:

Pistol whip? Forgot what was that? Anyways what does malee defense do besides good damage?

What is th emost damaging pistoleer shot?

And once I have those answered I can tell you the straight path, But I would go for Stopping shot (knockdown) first. In beta i almost made master crbineer and I went for Fullauto2 (most dmg), then Leg Shot. The knockdown (Charge shot) came form Combat XP.

Stopping shot doesn't do Knockdown, Pistol Melee 1 (aka Pistol Whip) does knockdown.

Doesn't supression fire supposedly also drop the opponent to kneeling then prone?

Well, if it'd work, I've yet to see it do much anything to an NPC.
