Thread: Question about getting a good pistol...

First off im on Europe-FarStar, so if anyone can point me in the direction of where to get a great pistol i'd appreciate it.
Second, and requiring more info, whats the process for getting great stats on a weapon? I can't seem to find anywhere something that explains about weapon upgrading and things, I've heard people mention in passing things about upgrading weapons using found components or things like that, all I knew about was that a weaponsmith could craft a high-spec weapon with a high experimentation bonues, and then getting it sliced...
Right now I've got a republic blaster 2.7 260ish max dmg and a scout blaster 1.3 150ish max, and theseare the best I've managed to find by traipsing round looking for weapon vendors of sliced weapons (there dont seem to be (m)any slicers about).
How would I find a better one, or the components to let a smithy upgrade them? Also, how much would a really good pistol/upgrade for one cost?
Thanks for any help, I know they're kind of newbie questions but I am a kind of newbie so there's not a lot I can do about it.

check your server boards. be prepared to pay out the nose for anything good though since the pistol nerf came around. On Wanderhome it's millions for a good pistol.

I'm not sure if what you're asking about is the construction of the weapon, or weapon power-ups.
The stats of the weapon are greatly affected by the materials and components used in the construction. Some optional components are rare but can drastically improve the weapon. Using Krayt tissue in a republic blaster, for example.
Artisans can make melee and ranged weapon power-ups. You just take an power-up(it will have a name like Tuned Muzzle of Sighting or Balanced Grip or something) and drag it onto the weapon. They'll adjust the stats of the weapon by certain percentages based on the quality of the power-up.

No cert necessary for the baseline Rep. The new one is Pistol 3, I hear.

Thanks, I knew about powerups but I'd heard of people talking about components for upgrade, I guess they just meant higher quality ones (again which i knew about). Turns out there were a couple of good weps out there, just managed to pick up an outrageous dx2 1.7, 119-252 (iirc) for only 10k - it was on low durability, managed to get it repaired though its max condition is now only 525
