Hi everybody

I need advice on which skill tapes/armor attachments to use.

I am going to put together a suit of armor and a shirt with skill mods to help master pistoleer. I am going to get the best kinetic armor for pve. Now, I need to know which skill mods are the most important ones.

I can choose from:

Pistol Speed

Pistol Accuracy

Pistol Aiming

Melee Defense

Pistol Accuracy While moving

Pistol Accuracy While Standing

Defense VS (insert name here)

I also have stuff like General Aiming +8 and other marksman tapes too

I have enough skill attachments to max out any of these but I am not sure, and I doubt, if I have enough high number tapes to max em all out. So which ones would you max out (+25) first? I listed them in the order I think is important but I really don't pay alot of attention to details when it comes to combat.

Any help will be appreciated

Well it depends on what other professions you have also. I'm master pistoleer and fencer 0-2-0-3 right now and going for master fencer.I get more defense with fencer....minus the dodge which doesn't stack anymore. I still get melee defense and ranged def which I believe does stack with pistoleer defense mods.

if you have master marksman or BH, TKA or any brawler professions you'll will generally get more mods that stack with pistoleer whether it be defense, speed or accuracy.

Now having said that and assuming you don't have any of the above mentioned professions. I would say that accuarcy is always a bonus especially if your gonna be using the dx2. Speed is not as important as many think it is simply because you only need a speed of at least +85 to shoot all pistoleer specials at 1 time per second (even stopping shot) and you need to be using a gun with 2.1 speed or less. You can raise your pistol speed higher but all that does is give you the ability to use a weapon with slower speed. Say if you have a speed mod of +100, you can use any gun in the game and still hit the 1 second speed cap with normal shots and any pistoleer specials. The good thing about that is you only need damage slices on your weapons if you have a very high speed mod.

Generally most pistols are around the 2.2 range so you don't need more than +10 pistol speed and if you take the pistol line from BH you don't need any speed attachments at all because that will push your speed mod to +129 (more than enough speed don't you think).

You can never have too much melee def as a pistoleer...makes fighting up close and personal a lot more bearable against brawler classes so you don't have to run too much. However the best attachments you should get if you PVP is def vs knockdown. IF they can't knock you down, you stand a better chance and are more of a danger to them.

I really don't know about the pistol aiming and how much that helps though. It could have a pretty good bonus.I assume that it gives you a bonus to hit movingtargets though since aiming issuppose to give you a bonus to the number next to the target and we all know that moving targets make that number decrease. But If you have as many of these kind of tapes as you say, I'd suggest putting a couple on some other clothing or armor and test it out before adding any to your uber suit of armor.

SUMMARY:

Pistol speed is only important if you have anything less than pistol stances 4. As a novice pistoleer a bonus of +25 (equals +55 pistol speed) would mean you have the speed of a level 4 pistol stances without having to get all that combat xp.

Accuracy you can never have too much of....I'd say take some of this even though you'll have +95 at master +105 with master marksman, +120 or +130 sounds real nice for accuracy.

Any kind of defense is a plus because pistoleers getaverage def vs **** mods. with that 80% composite, melee mitigation, very high def vs ***whatever*** but mainly def vs knockdown, you will be great in either PVP or PVE. Also,Dodge is a good area to consider too. My motto is "the less they can hurt you, the more time and opportunity you have to hurt them". Defense Rules!!!!

the pistol accmoving is a good route to go if you are the type who likes to move around a lot while fighting.

the pistol acc standing is cool but not that important in my opinion because you get bonuses for not moving and wheter you are kneeling or prone anyway.

Now early on, the speed mods and accuracy mods will help you level a lot faster because you do more damage per second than a novice would...but once you reach master those speed mods become less of a bonus due to the cap restrictions (that's of course depending on the speed of your chosen weapon). so once you hit the speed cap of 1 shot per second, any speed mod bonuses you have over that of which you need to hit the cap on specials will mean absolutely nothing. So basically a pistoleer/ Bh with the pistol line (+129 pistol speed) is no better than a master pistoleer with +85 speed. However, the only difference in that may be what the time modifiers are on the BH specials....if they are higher than 2.5 seconds then you will benefit more from the +129 pistol speed...if they are equal to or less the pistoleer speed mods, then again the extra speed means nothing and you would be wasting sockets on your armor that can be used for something else.

I've never been a BH so I am not too sure about the delay on their specials....the speed numbers is purely mathmatic though.

wow, great post! thx

All I am going to do is finish pistoleer (0 2 3 1) before I drop it to run holo professions. I want to get it out of the way as fast as I can.

Thx for the help. I think I'll put together the best pve pistoleer suit tonight. Then I'll have to tackle pikeman /sigh.
