Thread: Pistol formula ( so u can judge all pistols according to 1 number)
lmao
kip up and rollshot are better than the normal shots..... why would you do that to yourself?
oh man....

ok when gettting or comparing pistols heres what u do get the pistols min dmg and max dmg and add them up then with that number u divide it by 2 then u divide that number by the speed and what u get is dmg per second the higher it is the better the pistol is . mine are about 77.5
this is a example say the pistol was 100-160 damage 2.1 speed
100+160 = 260 divided by 2= 130 divided by speed 2.1= 61.9 ( that is the weapons dmg per second)
that is a bad pistol
I understand what you are saying, but you are forgeting about Armor Peircing, the Defense of your target. so damage per second is not the defining factor on whether one gun is better than another one, unless of course that theDPS of one weapon is3 times faster than the secondweapon.....but even then it still depends on how resistant your target is to both guns.
If I'm shooting an armored target that has 50% resist to the type of weapon that I'm using and that weapon has no AP andbut has higher damage per second thanmy secondgun that has AP and the target has no resist tothe damage type......then the second one is better simply because the first weapons damage will be reduced and the second one won't.IN this situation, you will be firing slightly slower, but you will be doing full damage each time you hit....where the first weapon will fire faster but has to do more damage than the second one to makeup for the reduction in damageeach hit. Thatkind of gun is rarebecause most guns that have a higherDPSis usually weaker in total overall min and max damage anyway. I have yet to see a gun in the game that DPS varies in range wide enough between two gunsthat shooting a target in the situation I've just described would still make the gun with the higher DPS better.
All, I'm saying is that every gun is better in different situations. it's kind of like you don't take a grenade launcher into a bar room fight, you'll just blow yourself up with everyone else, so take your handy pistol with ya......Different situations demand different weapons. There is no one best weapon...unless you have one of those exploited ones with min and max damage that is so insane that even reduced damage is still higher than other weapons.
I think a lot of people make this same mistake about guns. they think that the higher dps gun is always better. I see it all the time on dantooine. So many people are running around with FWG's and Energy weapons trying to hunt on Dantooine when just about everything on the planet is vulnerable to Acid. So a Acid weapon is better more often than not (depends on your characters stats a bit). A FWG's DPS (even with it's faster speed) is not so much greater than a DX2 that it's better against voritors and such. Then again, I have DX2's with speeds under 2 and damage averaging between 190 - 230 without powerups (but sliced of course, and only 1 slice). As a master pistoleer or withspeed above45if your not a master, speed becomes less of a factor between guns and Damage is the primary factor. As a master pistoleer, as long as the speed of my weapon is 2.2 or less, I shoot all my specials at the speed cap, so Damage and the type ofdefense I'm facingis the only calculation that I have to be concerned with when choosing a gun.
A nice start for when comparing weapons, but this is missing a number of key factors. Most importantlythe speed equation:
(WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) - ((WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) * ProfessionSpeed/100))
Basically, if you have enough speed, there is no difference in firing rate between a 1.3 and a 1.7 speed Pistol (for example). If you climb up to 100 speed (with either pistoleer/BH or lots of skill tapes), you fire everything at 1 shot per second.
I'm campaigning to scrub this equation from the game entirely and replace it with one that is both fair and makes sense at high levels. This equation is exponential, meaning the more speed you have, the more getting 1 more point means to your DPS. For this reason, a Master Rifleman (90 speed) can pick up Master Marksman and gain an 80% boost to his DPS. Pistoleers (74 speed), on the other hand, gain only a 23% boost.
The fact of the matter is this equation is so messy it is almost impossible to balance with. Once you get to the higher levels, it falls apart. If you throw speed tapes into the picture, it spins out of control.

The man speaks the truth. As a master pistoleer (with master smuggler for true damage) I have aquired the +25 maximum speed increase and it's a night and day difference; it breathed a whole new life into my char, at a point I was thinking of walking away for a while.
If at all possible, I highly recomend increasing your speed, as it makes a world of difference.
