PvE is all about armour piercing, and currently there are only two pistoleer pistols worth using that pack this effect (not including that wicked slow DE-10 krudpile) and those are your DX2 and Republic Blaster. The light armour piercing makes a hell ofa difference PvE and also the DX2 is acid damage which you don't yet have access too and a lot of things have lower acid resists than energy resists and although your pimp FW has nice damage and it's heat to boot, it's lack of armour piercing hurts it's standing as a useful pistol.

As a pistoleer is pretty much necessary to carry every pistol you are certified for that hasn't been made obsolete by another. So that means you want:

  • Republic Blaster - light armour piercing, energy damage and around 200 max (get a speed slice)

  • DX2 - light armour piercing, acid damage and around 160 max (get a damage slice)

  • Geonosian Sonic - no armour piercing, stun damage, our best PvP weapon, get a crafted one and do whatever it takes to speed cap one of your moves. (certed at pistol techniques 2)

  • Striker pistol - no armour piercing but kinetic damage, useful for those pesky NS

  • Scout Blaster - you have a nice damage one, no armour piercing but this is our spamming pistol, always useful for those high delay mod moves.

  • Pre-nerf FWG - no armour piercing, heat damage and plenty of it, nice speed to. A speed slice will speed capsome of your moves and a damage slice will cause serious damage to unarmoured enemies, get one of each if possible

That's a quick rundown of the "must have" pistols for a pistoleer. A speed slice and damage slice of each kept me in good stead until I got myself infinitely capped and sold all my speed slices. If you happen upon any nice cash on your travels, get a krayted of any of the above or spider fang enhanced in the case of the Striker.

The big big big thing to realize when looking at pistols is that they all have their advantages in different situations. Some do different types of damage, some have light armor piercing while others have none, some are really accurate up close while others are pretty good as long distance weapons. Don't try to directly compare the DX2 and Scout by their damage and speed numbers, because that isn't the whole story. You should, in fact, carry MANY pistols on you at all times.

Before you attack an enemy open the radial menu and choose Examine. You'll get a list of their resistances, vulnerabilities, and armor rating. You might have a Scout with more damage and better speed than your DX2, but if the enemy has 50% resistance to Energy, 5% resistance to Acid, and Light armor rating, the Scout is going to SUCK.

The DX2 on the other hand does Acid damage and has light armor piercing, so it would be the right gun for the job.

It's all about the best gun for the situation. There's no one Pistol that is best for every situation.

Unless your Dx2 is horrendous it's going to be one of the top two pistols you should carry. Actually, I have yet to be in a situation where my DX2 was outdamaged by another pistol type....so I basically recommend you find the best one on your server and go with that.

hey y'all thanks for the help! I need to get many pistols One more thing I forgot to ask, why do some weaponsmiths not accept orders for ranged weapons? out of the three I have asked in my guild they have said that they dont do ranged weapons for some reason I'll check the venders around my guild but those dont always have the best of items. Once again, thanks for your help with my questions =)

Don't know why they wouldn't make ranged weapons. I've seen a few weaponsmiths before that only sold melee weapons, and I always wondered why. Maybe ranged weapons require more resources, or some rare resources, or maybe they just think there's too many weaponsmiths making ranged weapons so they want to focus on melee. Those crazy crazy weaponsmiths!

I have a Novice Weaponsmith, and (this is only so far in the tree, which isn't very far at all) and ranged weapons seem to require more diverse rescoruces for lots of components. IE, gas, chemical and metal for a component then just chemical for another then chemical and metal for the final thing plus the components. Melee weapons seem to be mroe along the lines of component needs two kinds of metal, whole thing needs two kinds of metal and a chemical and the component.
