Thread: Stopping shot.. why doesnt it stop?

Maybe this has been asked a million times before, but I have spent most of my career over in the BH foums.
But with the Scout removal patch, I have been able to finally take up the rest of the pistoleer tree....
I am now BH 4,2,4,4 Pistoleer 4,3,4,4 and slowly working my way back to MBH and going to add Master pistoleer onto it.
I LUV fan shot and stopping shot.
anyway,
ok so here is my question:
Why doesnt STOPPING SHOT have a chance to STOP a target in its tracks?
.. even if for only2-3 seconds, it doesnt even have to stop its ability to attack... it would be nice as a pistoleer to have a shot that keeps brawlers at a distance.... Ideal range for most of my pistols is around 25 m... 25 meters is spitting distance from TKM's KD range, and thats not a good place to be.
The shot doesnt stop their ability to attack, and doesnt knock them down, it just puts a pause in their movement.
as a BH i would find that this would be a good way to keep those pesky jedi at a distance, a distance where they can just block more of my shots with Saber block... but at least they are at a distance, instead of ontop of me pounding me to a pulp

Why don't any of our specials do what they say they are meant to do?
It is my understanding that Pistoleers were overpowered at launch, and then we were nerfed, and that's the tale of the tape.
Check out the "Status of Pistoleer Specials" thread. Most of them are broken, and have been for quite some time.
I want Disarming Shot to actually knock weapons out of peoples' hands or do damage to the weapons like the shot descriptions imply, but that doesn't happen either.

Pistoleer needs MUCH more melee defence seeing as its a shot range weapon, maybe even melee mitigation :/

Uhm... the in-game description says it's called stopping shot cause it kills (or incaps) the target in one go. Not because it stops their movement...

I don't believe that we were ever "overpowered" but there was a time when we weren't nerfed to our current broken state. The reason we're at the state we are now is because a long time ago a pistoleer had the idea of mastering scout and taking the Bh pistols line. The only man of his time to speed cap (riflemen didn't always have +90 speed, they got it ina publish way back) he used eyeshot and stoppingshot every second with no PvP damage reduction and was winning duels in two to three seconds. But everyone said they were killed by a pistoleer, when in fact they were killed by a man with a pistol... result, pistoleer nerfed and rifleman balanced vs the template.
As for specials not doing what they're supposed to, some of our "broken" moves actually do fit their descriptions and are therefore by definition not broken. For example pistol whip 2 doesn't claim to knock down, it just claims to do mor edamage than whip 1, and it does almost double damage. Since everyone is complaining about pistol whip 2, this leads me to believe that either a: the stealth changed the description or b: everyone assumed that because one move knocks down, it's improved counterpart should. I implore pistoleers to read the descriptions for their moves, and notice that most of our moves do actually work and the problem is not that they're broken, they just suck. lol
To end this post I'd like to point out the main reason why the devs could never make disarmingshot remove someones weapon or stop someones attack. If I'm speed capped and I use disarming shot despite it's low damage, at the speed cap. You'd never shoot. I liked the damaging weapons idea too when I believed it. Thenme and a friendtested and it had no effect, so we crossed it off our list of viable specials.
That's all I have to say right now, please read the descriptions and come to realise what I have, we're not broken, we're just crap.

As far as disarming shot goes all it needs to do to be effective these days is unequip the weapon of the target, it will then take a little while for them to re-equip it (new weapon change delay). To provent this being abused you could put it on a timer similar to knockdown.

Pistols were completely overpowered because of NO BUFFS, NO ARMOR, and KRAYTED FWG5s.
However, now that we HAVE BUFFS, HAVE ARMOR, NO MORE KRAYTED FWG5s and NO MIND SHOT, we are completely useless.

I'm bh 3-4-4-4 and pistoleer 3-3-3-4, you guys have problems all your best specials seem to be in BH, but BH has no defence and lower speed and accuracy. I read that thing about stopping shot and thought nah can't be true, if it was they'd have nerfed it already so I never even tried it, seems I was right. Looks to me that pistoleer, carbineer and BH will become a big family now as without eachother we suck.

BH Pistols and Pistoleer pretty much need each other, and Carbineer needs BH carbines horribly for the speed, but BH carbines can almost hold their own, especially at MBH with sprayshot.
