Ok, I'm Master Pistoleer, and almost Master Fencer... but its time to start hunting for another profession.
I was thinking of dropping Fencer for Swordsman, seeing a lot of my in game buddies think its very fun. Will it be useless to be Pistoleer/Swordsman?
I have no idea what stacks and what doesn't from different professions. Being RP, I don't usually get into that, I just go for what looks nice.
Any opinions?
Thanks

Both swordsman and fencer have their advantages.....fencer for defense and swordsman for damage output. If you don't want to get hit, go with fencer, if you want to wade through enemies, go for swordsman. Personally....I am a master fencer/pistoleer choosen for roleplaying reasons. As for a third profession to suppliment.....if you are going to be combat heavy, go medic, if you are more social orianted, go entertainer (I did, and love playing in random cantinas hehe) or if you are just looking to suppliment your income some, go scout to get hides and sell to tailors, or artisan and make little things to sell to your friends. Any way you go...just remember to try and be happy.....defeats the purpose of the game if you aren't happy while playing it *shrug*
Just my opinion

This is what I have recently settled on and I'm having a hoot and making lots of cash.
Master Marksman ( Needed for BH and usefull for Pistoleer )
Master Pistoleer ( Excellent Dodge bonus )
Damage type weapons - Stun, Energy, Acid, Kinetic
Novice Bounty Hunter, BH Pistols Tree 4 ( Max out speed and increase accuracy )
Damage type weapons - Better Acid and Energy & Electricity via LLC and Carbine
Novice Commando, Heavy Weapon Support Tree 4 ( Access to AP2 and AP3 Weapons)
Damage type weapons - Blast and Energy, Acid and Blast from Launchers
Novice Smuggler , Slice Tree 2 ( Money maker )
No new damage weapons but I can now open all my own containers and slice mission terminals for up to 50% increased payout

But a good question is;
As Master Pistoleer, what does your Dodge bonus apply to? Is it only pistols? One handed weapons?
If I go another profession with not so good defences, will the defences from Pistoleer help at all?

I like TKM because of the utility of meditation. My template looks like this:
Master Pistoleer (Main class I use, I love pistols)
Master TKA (Switch to this for kinetic mobs, or to save my neck, heh)
0140 Smuggler (Slicing terms + feign death + low blow + last ditch)
Novice Medic (just enough for high end stim B's to heal in a pinch)
2000 Scout (a bit of terrain negotiation and some harvest ability)
While not the most super efficient template you can be, I've got solid defenses and resist vs state effects. Heck I wander around without armor 99.9% of the time, even while going down to the aaklay or while solo clearing the aakuan cave, etc. I do treat myself well with 52% dodge food, 427/47 BE Brandy, +40 accuracy food, Imp PSG's and assorted other minor foods depending on the situation. I don't even insure or clone anymore, I can heal my own wounds off and boo-hoo if my 1000 credit shirt decays a little bit on the off-chance I die before I feign or something.

Diar, dodge only works with pistoleer and fencer weaps...as soon as you switch to something else you will no longer dodge (if you pick swordsman you would use counterattack skill instead which I have not noted as being exceptionally useful). I am a master brawler/master swordsman/master fencer and I am thinking of dropping swordsman for some pistoleer...I don't find many things that I can not handle using fencer alone. Also,

Bah...hit the enter key too soon but was going to agree that Meditation is probably THE single most useful skill in the game.

Here is my template:
Master Pistoleer
BH 0030
TK 4004
With this I get Lots of pistol speed and accuracy, plus eyeshot to target mind. From TK I get meditation which is very useful, and some more defenses. I think my ranged defense ends up being like 70, and my melee defense like 110. Its a fun template.
