Hello there,
I'm just on Tatooine and killing Squills to level up myself in Pistoleer, but I seem to be only getting a 122 - 200HAM off them with regular shots using a DX2 Pistol and it takes forever, I haveBody Shot 2 and Health Shot 2, but I only use them irregularly
Currently I'm a Novice Pistoleer with 0-4-0-0 in Marksman, any recommendations on the type of gun that might help me getmore HAM off of them?
Thanks for any help

THE NEXT 2 BOXES YOU NEED TO GET ARE THE TECH TREE! Once you get that, you can use a geo pistol, save up and buy one. All squills are vulnerable to stun you will tear through them.

Also squills are vulnerable to heat damage so a FWG5 works fairly well. But if you do have the money get a geo blaster for sure. When I am there I spam Body shot 2 cause stopping shot is just not good enough because of the random damage attack. I hear spamming Health Shot 2 is good as well.

1. DO NOT use a geo to level....they are WAY to expensive for that
2. Healthshot 2 is you best shot atm, only use that
For low level levelling I had a Fast FWG5, fast scout and fast DX2, (speed ranging from 1.2 to 1.7)

I agree with BloodMonk -- don't use a crafted blaster -- but you may be able to loot a geo that is worth using. I have a looted 198 max damage geo and repaired it to 600/600 condition. It works very well for PvE but is a bit on the weak side for PvP. For the squill cave, I would say if you can loot one around 180 dmage and higher, it may be worth your while.

I'm pretty sure HS 2 only attacks health now. I only hit arms, hands, torso when I use it.

Actually he doesn't have the speed for HS2 to use effectively, he should use HS1. He''l get more DPS out of it and attack 1 HAM bar. I didn't start using HS2 until I reached 4 or Master.

Yes HS2 is the same as HS1 but more damage and a lot slower until you near the speed cap at Master. Thus you can get more DPS out of HS1.
If you don't beleive me got to this link and input your speed mod and pistol stats
Damage calc

Well as suggested. Use a different pistol. Squills are vulnariable to heat. Use the fwg5. What shot you use you'll find out in time. My advice you should hold off on grinding here till you are farther up the tech tree. I'd suggest Fort Tusken or the area around Krayt graveyard. Out by the graveyard various things spawn. Most giving you about 1k xp up to 4k depending on the creature. I found this alot easier to level the bottom levels and I have used this spot for 5 combat profs. Creature lairs can gain you 50-100k xp in little under 40 minutes. Depending on how long it takes you, your armor and buffs. I assume your buffing and have decent armor if you are in the Squill caves. Well you can make just as much xp out by the grave yard spamming point blank area1 on dewbacks and banthas. May not be as fun and some days are slower then others but this will definately be alot faster then taking on 5 squills and then have a jedi roll by and kill all of them for you. Farther up into pistoleer squill caves are great xp but as a new pistoleer I suggest you get some boxes under you first. Make it that much more fun when you can go back and get some good xp there. Also don't use fanshot in the cave. You'll have 15 pissed off squills trying to smack you. Just my advice though.

Hmmm I don't think he said that he was in the squill CAVES... just killing squills. From what you have said, I don't think that you are getting buffed, because if you are, why do you only use specials every once in a while? Buffed, if you have a 1.5 speed pistol you should use HS2 MAYBE, but if slower you should use HS1.. I am a master pistoleer and I use HS1 with my DE10, does more dps than HS2.
Wel, get buffed, head to dantooine use ubese or padded armor and do quenker lairs (payout= 5000c per mission) they will go down a little slow but grouped you get 3000 xp per. As was said before, do techniques first, then some grips/marks and climb up the stances tree as you do it.
Remember, pistol melee defence1 is a great starting move in pvp and pve. It knocks them down and they cant attack you and u do double damage.
Good luck

Always examine your targets before engaging if you can. DIfferent squills are vulnerable to different weapons. Normal squills are vulnerable to heat (use FWG5). Mountain squills like at squill cave are vulnerable to acid (DX2). If you don't seem to be doing as much damage with a weapon as you usually see it is usually a sign that they are resistant to that type of damage.

"with regular shots.... it takes forever"
Using regular shots is going to take forever unless the target is so insignificant that it is not worth killing.
Get buffed and use specials.

for stun buy a tangle and get it sliced, add a +30 max dmg PU too. cheaper option for lvling than a geo.
