yes, ranged defense, melee defense, defense vs states all work regardless of the weapon you are holding.
Dodge, Counterattack, Block and Defensive Acuity only work when holding the appropriate weapon that corresponds with that defense.

As Maxx said, yes it does. I was a MBH, Pistol 0/0/4/3, & TKA 0/0/0/4. The defenses were excellent for PvE. Granted, I didn't hit 100% of the time as I do now as a M. Pistol/MBH, but the defenses made up for it. It's a great line to pick up if you're primarily interested in PvE. The best part of the Warrior line is that it also comes with toughness & hard hitting Health, Action, & Mind attacks. I was amazed howeasy it was to save myself with TKA. IfI was being attacked by a handful of Mokk's an my health was near gone, I'd switch tomy VK's, throw on CoB, and I'd barely take any further damage. If you can only pick up one TKA line, that's the one I'd suggest.

The powerline is also nice...but you dont get any defenses from it...
So yes, to complement pistoleer 0004 is nice...0044 if you want to use some TK 0304 if you only want the defenses and the meditation line is just plain handy no matter what prof you are, being able to heal your own Poison, disease, wounds and bleeding (all post combat though) is just plain handy.

Does it work with pistols equipped and stack with pistoleer defences?
