My guild and I were out doing Sanguillos escort mission.. in the process I was killed by a single Stopping Shot that delt 4320 points of damage!
I have been a master pistoleer for a year... with my de-10 with a powerup the best I managed was a 3120... ever
Not that the devs give half a penny about what our issues are... but has anyone else seen this? Whats wrong with our stopping shot?
Just irritated that's all.
Whats the highest Stopping Shot anyone else has seen... Player or NPC

if in fact it was a Shadow Thug then it is ONLY because they are MEANT to be tremendously overpowered. players a supposed to out-smart this mission, not out-fight it.
that IS a crazy amoung of damage, but i think that only the Sith Shadow Thugs of this mission would really bed able to use it that well.

Not to hijack this thread, but shouldn't stopping shot actually stop the target (in addition to doing massive damage)? For example a Pistoleer fires Stopping Shot at a charging Rancor. If the shot is effective, the Rancor should get KD'd and take huge damage right?

I always personally thought it should be the Pistoleers ranged knockdown. However, back to the subject at hand. I am fine with the Dev's wanting us to use a little strategy in fighting Sith Shadows. IMHO though, strategy takes time and if you get a 4k shot that incapps you, how can you effectively apply your strategy?

/agree
you are correct there. it is in fact not possible to implement even the best of strategies if everyone is one shot killed by the Thugs.
i believe this was the top end of the random damage generator and an extreme exception to the rule. i completed the mission twice in a row and none of our 3 (and then 4) party members were ever one-shot killed.
i think it stinks that it happened, i just don't believe it will happen all that often.

The effects of stopping shot are going to be the same if a sith uses them or a meatlump uses them, but as they are a multiple of the weapon's damage that is where the difference comes into play. With most NPCs you can't take a look at their weapons anymore, but in the DWB you still can with a lot of them. Go in there and type /open on a blacksun thug and look at the stats on a vibroknuckler for example. They are just more powerful weapons.

Yeah, I've hit for 4k multiple times before with stopping shot. Those are always against NPCs that have vulnerabilities to Energy though...and those are rare.
