Thread: Tangle Pistol and Composite?

Has anyone tried a tangle pistol against composite? Its a slow pistol and its got a low output, but since composite is normally vulnerable to stun I was wondering if that compensated and made it better than say a Republic Blaster for getting through armor. Any thoughts?

Hmm.. Well ive actually done the stun gun vs composite.. Every little bit counts but its not as great as you would think it helps a tiny bit but youd do faster and more dmg with say a fwg5 or dx2

If ever there was a gun needed fixing its the tangle. When you can actually HIT something with it it still does painfully little damage. The actual max range sucks hard, as do the range mods and the speed is also terrible. This is a master's weapon as you need all master mods to make it effective.

In so far as putting it up against composite, sure it works, but nowhere near as good as Jawa Ion rifles or stun batons, both of which have AP1, where the tangle does not. AP1 eliminates stun layers from composite but anyone with stun layered comp will laugh at you as you bring a tangle to bear.

I been hunting for a HVFM for my own personal PvP tangle on Lok for ages now and still haven't found one, so until I do (and probably WHEN I do) I'll be utilising my krayt Rep Blaster and dmg sliced DX2for PvP as it does more DPS over the long run than the tangle ever will.

I have seen composit suits made with special resistance to stun and kenetic. So this may not work all the time.

Anyone with a good set of composite can completely own a pistoleer. I dont care what their profession is. AP is messed up, and the only pistol that would actually help against uber-armor (Tangle) SUCKS.

Not buying JTL. Its just more of the same bugged game.

Own a Pistoleer who is just a pistoleer - Yes

Own a Pistoleer who has the Dirty Fighting line - Nope

People need to realize that until the profession is fixed, if you want to take up pistols then you need to take up Dirty Fighting, or Bounty pistol.

Or dirty fighting, and TKA....like me - Ibelieve I have (or will have after tonight) the same template as the Smuggler Coor. (Master Pistoleer, Master Smuggler, Master TKA)....

but I digress....

Even against composite a Pistoleer / Smuggler can win more often then not

I've seen extrmely few armors with stun layers. I'm told by many armorsmiths its not possible. Whether it is, or isn't, it's extremely rare to find. So you can for the most part assume no one has stun in they're composite.

Attacks against resists that are "vunerable" ignore armor ratings. Or result in at least a -1 reduction in armor rating. In any event attacking someone wearingcompositewith stun is as good as attacking them as if they had no armor.

Yes the tangle pistol sux on dmg. But do the math on your DX2.

I disagree with some of you. Tangle pistol is better in nearly all situations involving composite wearing opponents. Particuarly if the composite suit in question has special effect layers... vs acid (popular).

If we assume that your average composite has 50% resists. Then a 180 max dmg DX2 is getting knocked down to a 90 dmg DX2. Based on the resists.. Where the tangle at 100max dmg per se is doing 10 more points more than the DX2. I dont' see how you can make a dps argument here. The spds on both are about the same, as well as the accuracies. Perhaps you can argue some varianes with the max dmg and spds on the DX2 vs the tangle fine.

But now throw in a Acid layer into that composite ( a popular layer choice) and the DX2 is put to shame, and you'll be crying for stun.

My current composite armor suit.

Special Effect (+1 AP ratingarmor equvalency)

Kinetic 70% (tka's be damned)

Acid 70% (bh's andDX whateva's' suck my thumb)

Electricity 70% (BH's pwned months ago)

Heat 70% (pre-nerf krayt fwg5's be gone)

Effectiveness (Standard AP rating)

60 - 70% ( for everyone else I didn't think about )

Vunerability (-1 AP rating equivalency - no armor)

STUN
