Thread: Moan about how Pistoleer sucks.
Ok so this may of been said before. But the proffesion of the pistoleer sucks bad.
The skills a broken or bugged , our specialist weapon ( DX2 ) Is worse than a Striker pistol, and my DL44 does more damage and has better accuracy.
Disarm shot does not disarm anything and it only does double damage to lairs.
Pistol whip 2 does not knock down your opponent.
And now that I am drawing level 20 missions solo if I never had Feign Death from the smuggler skills I would never be able to kill a **edit** thing. I use Neutron Pixe nearly on every lair / Faction mission I do.
Our damage output can not match the mods levels as we rise and get harder missions infact the damage output for the pistoleer stays the same throughout. Sure we get faster but so do the mobs and I find it difficult now to take down 3 light blues where as on the level 10 missions these were done with relative ease. I expect a tough fight vs a white con mob but I am finding I have to use FD or spice just to stay alive.
If it was not for the smuggler skills set that I have this proffesion would not be a viable combat proffesion to play. And once I master it I am dropping it as quickly as possible. I am at my wits end and realy I do not know how you guys put up with this class, and so I must salute you for sticking with one of the worst combat classes in the game that I can see so far.
A master pistoleer is no where as equal in damage or accuracy like a rifleman nor a carbineer and yet we draw the same level missions as these two do.
You were obviously meant to play a crafting class....cause you have no clue how to play this profession. If you need help or tips, ask....but you are jumping to conclusions without having all the knowledge of this profession.
My advice, find another master pistoleer, group with him/her and watch and learn young apprentice. Let the force flow through you. your feelings will lead you to the darkside, control yourself you must.......![]()
Yeh i know about stats on guns.
And I always look for the best accuracy / damage ones i can find.
Instead of shooting me down in flames why not give me some of your wisdom and help me learn this proffesion as it seems to me that you know alot about it.
For example what gun do you use ?
Do you shoot from long range or close up ?
Haven you ever tried a level 20 faction mission solo without a pet and not use spice , heal , or any other stat increasing item.?
I just hit my last box, and am trying to get app XP for master, but to be honest, I don't know how long I'll keep it.
Fan shot is the best special we have. But you have to be SO freakin careful about using it, that it's almost worthless. If I get a mob into just the right spot, then I can use it. But if it's near a lair, or near other mobs, forget it. A lot of people say "kite those mobs with it!" But what do you do when the mobs are faster than you are?
Stopping shot is.......... nice ............. but ................ really............ too........ slow ............ to........ oh, forget it.
And pistol whip never works when I REALLY need it to. Nothing I hate seeing than "you failed to knockdown the target"
Anything else? Oh yeah, I miss BH pistol 4. Eyeshot + torsohot + much much much faster fire rate = better pistol user.

Striker is a far, far cry from DX2 in quality, the DX2 will always be better. Striker is great for nightsisters if you do not have a melee class to support your ranged. Thats about it.
Until they fixed (sorta...) the republic blaster, I used the DX2 exclusivly. The +20 range mod up close is lovley. It is bad at long distance for accuracy, but its a nice weapon with AP1 and acid damage.
Republic blaster is what I use 90% of the time in everything now. It has no penalty for really close or really far away, decent accuracy and better damage with AP1 than the Dx2. It does energy rather than acid damage.
If you plan on going only pistoleer with no smuggler the only moves I would use are stopping shot, which is replaces with fan shot. Everything else is pretty craptastic, Body Shot 3 is too slow to make the slight damage increase better than body shot 2. All other specials do less damage/not worth using, in my opinion. Also, if you have ranged support form marksman you can use supression fire and other fun things like that.

hmmm seriously pal, u either cant play, or have used pistoleer a few times, got owned and thought, man this sucks, why aint i a "uber l33t d00d"
i know ppl wanna just target, attack and kill everything - minimal hits no dmg done to their selves, but some proffessions take a little more skill to be good in. i mean what the hell fun is owning everything?
if i can solo enranged rancor, nightsisters and 90% of things on dath, then so can u buddy......
yup specials are broken, look about tho, every proffession has broken skills, whats new!!!!!

sigh, listen, pistols are not meant to hit as hard as a rifle, they are not meant to be as acurate, unless up close. our thing is being able to fire on the move, some great defenses and to fire fast. use it.
as for ur comments about the dx2, u got no clue man........my dx2 is very nice, even at 20m. after powerup it mods it to about 340 with a nice min dmg of 150......something like that anyway.
My dl44, does about the same dmg but is slightly faster, but then its just another energy gun with no ap, the dx2 is ACID. so really what u said tells me u dont examine any prey b4 goin in for the kill. no wonder ur gettin massacred out there.
as someone else has said, go on a hunt with a master pistoleer, try and pick up some tips or something, if u still cant do anything with the proffession, maybe try desert combat where every weapon and character is 100% alike
If you're having problems hitting multiple mobs with Fan Shot then you need to use some tactics. Pull one of the mobs away from the rest using a Bleed then /Peace. Wait for it to aggro and come after you, then when it's by itself you can use whatever you like without aggroing others.
I been a Pistoleer for a long time. I refrain from posting in here because of the mob mentality.
I love Pistoleer. No state effects, or no ranged KD kinda suck, but as far as damage per second, we do really well.
No other profession as the wide array of damage types we do, and all of the pistols have their pros and cons.
A well sliced arsenal ofwell crafted weapons, and some really good 33% damage powerups, and you are hard pressed to find a more lethal profession.
As far as the specials, once you got a good mojo, and use the right ones in the right circumstances, you find that the good ones that work compensate quite a bit for the ones that don't.

Mob mentality aside, please point out what specials you use. You arent really saying anything.
From the pistoleer tree, I find that once you have fan shot, it is useable, and prior to that stopping shot, and double tap. Every other special, includin gmaster box ones, are crap. In my opinion at least. Does your differ?

I use them all.
Stopping shot rules among my pvp specials. Fanshot also works very well sometimes. Depends on what I am fighting. Truth be told, I use my Smuggler shots a tad more, but I also use Aim a ton. Send those defense stackers packing with it sometimes. Against melee, when I am buffed from a Doc, I even go as far as pistolwhipping fools to the ground, rare, but it works. Pistolwhip2 is poop.
In PvE, NPCs, examples being Stormtroopers, Multitarget does 900 a pop, granted, it sometimes says it's hitting, but it really doesn't. I still get good use out of it. Disarmshots both suck, so we can agree there. Bodyshot2 gets more love from me than 1, and I only use Healthshot2 occasionally. No one really uses bleeds that much anyway.
I recently mangled a lair of Pikets using Multi-Target, from the right range, and I of course used my buffs as well as I could. Tat sunburn to assist in the regen of my mains, and some Muon to make sure I could heal myself rapdily between shots.Couple that with Fanshot when I was facing the right direction so I could be sure not to aggro the Hurtoons 50m away, I was golden. Double-Tap is a low cost special, which does between 3 and 600 dmg, so this is a good one if you want something you can spam with little to no HAM cost.
I mainly use a DX2, 101-186, 1.6 speed on a speed slice. I would rather a damage slice, but if I use 33% Max pups, I get that gun to 120-256 sometimes, and you can't beat that.
There are many mitigating circumstances to combat. HAM costs on the guns you use, buffs.. tactics...
I dunno man. I never had no trouble.

DankMohda gave you the key though. I don't bleed/run, because as a Master, I don't have to. Heck, I barely use my bleeds now. They work great against certain mobs, but I can put a mob down quicker than the bleed can take effect, so why bother wasting the special when I could have used Stoppingshot you know?
When Doc buffed, I have soloed Hanadaks and a bunch of other Endorian menaces. Can I solo Nightsisters? No. Not many can though.
The only reason I bleed/run is not necessarily for the bleed but more for just pulling purposes, so as not to have 7 craggy bolmas stomping after me. I just /prone/bleed/peace and move back 50m or so to give them room to run at me without me firing and pulling the whole pack
As far as NS's...soloing them should be no prob, i do it frequently. Not as fast as Giant Baz's for xp, but still fun and fairly simple. this is of course, with full buffs and mind buff from ent (the mind buff from ent is key because of the NS force powers)
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that uses that tactic DankMohda. ![]()
Only 11K more combat XP to Master Pistoleer. Then I guess lets hope they fix our Profession.
