I've made a lot of friends here on the Pistoleer boards, and I hate to clutter it up with garbage, but I've been an active member of this forum and profession almost since launch, so I feel that it is warranted.
I posted my goodbye post in the July 21 Followup thread. For those of you who don't wanna look it up, here it is.
TH, I've been loyal with this game from the start. I was in beta for awhile, I've been playing the game for a year, now.
I've been a pistoleer since beta, and of the9 or10 changes you've made to the game that affected our class (including overall combat changes), most of them have made us even worse.
Out of 12 combat specials, 2 or 3are useful or effective. We're not any faster than the other ranged classes at master level. We have only two status effects,1 bleed and 1 knockdown. We can't hunt high level PVE because of our AP1 and general suckiness (we can't even outdamage the regeneration of buffed players, oftentimes!)
I've been waiting for the combat revamp since November 2003, when you originally announced it. You've stringed us along since then, with the allure of Holographic images that can pop up over our heads, Jedi (HATE!), and exploding mouse droids. Yes, the Droid Engineers and Image Designers needed love, I'm not denying that. But Its now obvious that half of my money, if not more, goes to develop a completely different game.
The game I've paid about $180 for a year, has seen minimal advancement on the part of my main profession of choice. Now you want another $60-$90 dollars before the next projected date of the Combat Balance - a date which very well may get passed by like the 2 or 3 other projected dates.
I was hanging on your post today, to see ifthe dev teamwould do the right thing, and give me the game I've paid for. They didn't.You didn't even tell us anything we didn't already know. Now you're telling us that the Combat Balance is going to stretch over a loooong period of time, while you originally said it would all be rolled out at once to make the changes sudden and universal.
I've made a lot of friends in this game, and I hung on for the potential it had. Some people even called me the best roleplayer on my server. I'm a huge roleplayer, but without working combat, this game is just a $130/year chat room with star wars characters.
How does the saying go?
"I usually get a kiss before I get f*cked."

Anyways, I hate to be a downer, but I'm not putting up with it. We very well may get fixed soon, but with most of the team working on JtL and integration for the next few months, I really doubt that it will help us that much. And heck, even if it does, this game is still fundamentally shattered. I won't continue to pay for a service that doesn't deliver on its promises.
(and yes, it was my 666th post, with my character name being Beel Ze'bub.
)
Sorry, gunslingers. You'll have to follow the trail on your own from here on out.

Very sorry to see you go BZ. You've been a strong voice in our community here for a long time.
May your future be filled with b33r and loose women.

My only hope is that the game will eventually reach a stage that you are compelled to return. Fly fast, shoot straight and may the Force be with you.

Well it looks like I've made a bigger impression on the community than I thought I did. o_O
Thanks everyone. This was my first MMORPG, and it didn't really fulfill my expectations. One day, I may come back...but it'll take a lot for me to reinvest the time andmoney into this game, not to mention it'll take a lot for me to trust this development team again.
And RandonB, I'm *technically* too young for all those adult beverages and fast-women types. See, I'm technically 16 years old.
*cough*
Anywho, I'll be around the boards until my year-long subscription runs out next month, so I'll still be around for a bit.

I actually just cancelled yesterday for the exact same reasons. I'm tired of being strung along.
Have fun,
Fantastic Otis
