I thought about that myself, and having done everything but the investigation line at some point, that would definately make you a pistol-packing power house. You might still find yourself lacking in high end PvE, but in PvP you'd have pretty strong offensive capabilities, though defense is somewhat lacking.

i have bh 0040 , master pistoleer, smuggler 0140
and i love this template so much
with terminal slicing i can go to dant and make this 27k missions turn to 40k so i have lots of cash
i do fairly well in pvp cept that i cant heal my self
and the investigation line isnt worth it unless you really really like hunting jedi

Yea the only thing bad about that template is the defenses plus you get tired of investagation 3 because of saber block

I went back to ranged after being melee for a while (used to be rifleman/commando/CH before going pikeman/swordsman), now doing BH 0044 commando 0040 pistoleer 0044 and smuggler 0010. I had some smuggler pistol stuff but it seemed useless to my style of play and I thought fanshot is plenty powerful enough that I don't need to waste smuggler 0040 just to get lastditch. And I dropped the investigation tree, ranged vs Jedi is just pointless.
