I see the tangle pistol everywhere and its pretty cheap, and then there is the genosian stun blaster that is more rare and expensive. However as far as I can tell there is not a significant difference in the two. Am I missing something? Is the genosian really that much better than the tangle pistol and if so what makes it so?

yes. paid 80k for my geneo and its WAY better than the tangles out there.
maybe a prenerf tangle can compare..but usually only see tangles with max damage of 100-105

The thing I noticed about the tangle pistol is that at best the wound chance is around 6-10%. Looted Geno Pistols have a simular wound chance but slightly higher damage. A player made Geno Pistol will have upwards of 30% wound chance with max damage over 200. I put my tangle pistol away for good after getting my first of many Geno's.

My speed sliced Geo pistol is still stronger than any pistol I have. I had a Tangel pistol I never used becaues of the low damage.

Thanks for the info on the geos everyone. A while back I was looking at the best PvP rifle for my rifleman character and the way things came out it was not always the Jawa, the rifle everyone most associates with Rifles and PvP. The reason being that most PvP players today use an IMP PSG and wear composite armor with stun layers.
Looking at the same type of thing with pistols I don't think the Geo, or any stun pistol we have would actually be the best.
For this I am making the following assumptions; targets wear IMP PSGs with 50% stun protection, composite with 40% stun protection and 80% everything else, DX and Scatter pistol have AP1, Geo has AP0 and all three can be sliced, bought, Powered-Up to do about the same amount of damage, we are firing at the speed cap with all of them.
Using the generic figure of 200 points of damage, after going through all the protection a Geo will be left doing 15 points of damage. (200; -50% AP1on PSG, -50% base protection PSG, -50% protection AP1 composite, -40% base protection composite). Then using either the scatter gun or DX pistol we see that it will do 40 points of damage. (no deduction from PSG, they are vulnerable to acid, no AP1 deduction from composite from AP1 of gun, 80% base deduction from composite).
What this means is that the Scatter Pistol or DX is the best choice against an opponent who PvPs regularly and wears the full assortment of protective gear. However I am posting this in part to see if I am wrong, anybody that finds a flaw in this logic please let me know. Otherwise we as a profession may want to look at changing our minds when it comes to PvP.

only prob i see is that alot of pvpers dont wear stun armor still to this day. I dueled a guy today actually and started with a dx2. I was hitting him for like 30 points and switched to my geo and was hitting him for over 300 per shot. I guess the only flaw i see in your math is that there is ALWAYS a variable
and the key to success in pvp is to exploit (yea thats right) that variable to your advantage.
If i fight an opponent and learn that he is all melee i go ranged. all ranged i go melee. If i dont know? i mix it up with different stuff til i learn what is most effective then i whoop him with that.

ooo, and for that whole psg thing...if you are a pistol/bh and hunt jedi...just use the gun with highest dmg and best range mods.....
