Thread: triple master vs all pistols

im currently the all pistols template. mpisolteer, bh pistols, smuggler pistols, and novice commando. I was wondering thr triple master template stacks up to this? does it allow you to take on higher level content? why is it considered the other pistoleer template?

The triple master is fun to play. You can nail your target from a distance with last ditch, low blow etc. and when they get up close you can switch to TKM and finish them off. With the triple master you also benefit from melee and ranged mitigation 3. Yes you won't be able to use BH's eye shot but if you can get your speed up then you will love last ditch even more. All in all the triple master gives you more options at game play than just shooting your pistol all the time. It helps to keep things different and not as repetive in game.

However it prevents form the capacity of dealing blast damage (launcher). all in all in terms of content it's somewhat equal at the moment, but this may certainly change after the combat upbalvampthingy.

the launcher pistol is AP0 though, you'd be better off using your geo or some other gun than the launcher unless you were after low end mobs with low blast resists.

I find triple master more rounded, with better defenses and the ability to use melee/ranged


All pistols, however, is a much more offensive template: speed cap, alot of accuracy, fewer defenses but better attacks

I went from triplemaster to all pistols on Radiant recently. You can say it's more offensive using all pistols and blast damage is nice. But since I've always had a melee prof somewhere in my template I'm starting to miss it.


The defensive bonuses in TKM are very helpful, so is having dizzy/lunge/KD2 and the increase in melee mitigation/defence. My approach to the game in pvp is very different now, to the point where I'm considering going back to triple master. With speed tapes and the right pistols it's the best template I've tried so far.


And you get to slice all your own gear and have a moneymaking trade too.

My SWG Observations

If they stopped the expansions for one year and gave quality revamps to the professions that need it most, many people would resubscribe.
With all the resubs, and the new players, there would then be plenty of money to hire enough people to do 2-4 quality revamps per year plus 1-2 larger expansions per year and/or 2-4 smaller expansions per year, and not give the BigWigs a pay cut. (Possibly even an increase)

I have never understood this. Why master smuggler? don't you just need 0040 to have all the pistolage from the profession? Wouldn't TKM, Fencer 0240, Master Pistoleer, be a lot better? You could even do MPist, TKM, Dirty Fighting, Medic 4040. Sure, with Master Smuggler you can slice stuff for $$$, but is that the only reason?

The master smuggler/master pistols/master TKA template is usually used by people who want to be master smugglers. It's fun to play, I had this template for a while and it was effective, but if youdon't want to be master smuggleryou would be better getting master pistols/master TKA/smuggler 0040, and puting the rest of the skill points into medic and scout.


Hell, I'm a master smuggler and will be one foras long as this game lasts, but I can understand you not wanting to be one- the spiceline is useless, the underworld line is of very little use, the slicing line just makes people moan at you when the random nature of the slice puts a 22% speed slice on their 3million credit uber weapon.The amount of money you can make from slicing is not worth if for the aggro you get- which is why a lot of master smugglers, including myself will only slice for friends.


Master smuggler is more of a labour of love for bloody minded fools like me who are determined to enjoy the prof no matter what SOE throws at it.


As it is, I dropped a lot of the TKA part of the triple template as I wanted some medic skills (I like being able to heal other players wounds as well as my own), and have kept master pistols and master smuggler as these are the 2 masters I enjoy playing most.


But I'd be the first to admit that if you want to be good in a fight, you should keep master TKA as your damage output will be a hell of a lot higher than master pistols/master smuggler.

Exactly.








Tripple MAster, in my opinion, is more rounded. You still have great offense, from TKA, and you still have the pistols (CU ready!). It's A preferred template for SMuggler roleplayers. You got the Smuggler, You've got his pistol, and you've got the unarmed to back you up. Well, its more like you've got the unarmed, and pistols, are, well, just there. Overall, you have waaaaaaaaay more defenses with Triple Master, and you still have great (better or, maybe equal) offense compared to BH/Pistols/DF IV. With BH/Pistols/DF IV, you are an All out Pistols machine. All out offense, you are the gunslinger. With access to every pistol and pistol special in the game, as well as the use of Energy, Acid, Kinetic, Heat, Stun, and Blast for you to use at range, you are very versitile. Speed capped with pistols, you can Last Ditch Attack every second with any pistol. You have Access to Lowblow, Feign DEath, Torso Shot, and Eye shot.Before CU, pistols are weak. Post-CU, everything will be hsken up. This template, if possible, might not be thae same. Now, with this template, you will excell with your pistols. But, becarful not to bite off more than you can chew. Without much in the defense aspect of things, you could find yourself in high water quickly.

I think many of us have our fingers crossed that the Cu will fix pistols and make is a viable combat profession. Persoanlly I love being a master smuggler, but it sucks we are forced to do TK if we want to be strong in combat (not that I hate TK or anything).

I went triple master a while ago (as some have mentioned, a desicion based mostly on wanting to be a smuggler). I have since used my pistols only to shoot fleeing, woundedMokks and Jantas in the back.


I love pistols, so here is hoping to a good combat upgrade.
