Thread: A question from a crafter (ya, I bet you love that :))

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I used to be a Master Rifleman/Master Architect. I have decided to give up the MR and invest those points into other crafting abilities. This leaves me with enough points to get 0404 Marksman/Novice Pistoleer. The questions is: After Novice Pistoleer I still have 24pts available, which boxes do I get in Pistols?

I have read the Pistoleers guide, and since I am not going to Master, not sure if I should get Fanshot and then invest the rest into 004x or something else. Since this is just for personal PvE protection, is Fanshot needed and spend more poinst in Stances?

Thank for any tidbits you may provide.

Sincerely,

Well, Health shot2 will get you out of a jam, you dont need anymore then that unless you want to master.

You will want to use your marksman specials anyway most of the time.

I would say get the speed line and perhaps stopping shot.

I would assume you just want to survive an unexpected encounter and get out of there, if so then this is my suggestion.

Fan shot is nice but without some speed and accuracy its going to be more trouble then its worth agro everything around you.

I think Stopping shot/healthshot1+2/pba1 and pistolmeleeDefence is all the specials you would really need to have to "get out of there".

Stances dont make a noticable difference unless you finish the tree imo

Thank you much. Correct I just need to get out of a jam while doing harvs, etc.

/agree. My list of essential specials for getting out of an unexpected jams would be PistolMeleeDefense1, HealthShot2, and perhaps PointBlankArea1 if you are surrounded at melee range. If I had to pick only a single one, it would be HealthShot2. You don't need anything else for that kind of playing style, IMO.

Of course there's one more special that is even more effective than any of those at getting out of a bad jam... Burst Run

Other than getting Fan shot when doing the pistol tech line(0040) you also get the defences that the profession provides. This can be handy.

That being said unless you just like ranged professions I would do TK and get as much of that as possible, dropping all of marksmen. That would probably help you more in your harvester runs than others. If you want to do pistols then do it though cause it is fun.

If you want to really only "get out of there" like you say, and not attack, then take fencer not pistoleer. go with the fencer defense/dodge lines and you will be better off than running away with pistol skills.

if what you meant to say is that you want to kill any mob that aggros you, then keep pistols. first off, marksman 0004 is worthless so drop that and you'll have 38 skill points. this will let you take pistoleer 0244.

The x2xx will bump your accuracy, the xx4x gives you fan shot and state defenses (and ranged mitigation2 i believe, unless its in another tree), and the xxx4 gives you a ton of speed as well as good defense and even more accuracy.

Dont waste time with any of the other worthless specials, just fan shot til its dead. If there are other mobs around, most likely they will aggro you in the first place so its not a problem to use its cone attack. If you are really worried about aggroing nearby mobs (I have never had that problem) then just use stopping shot which you also have.

Of course this is just my opinion, and it differs from all the other replies but at least you have a different point of view =)
