Thread: Not Understanding Damage
Basically I'd like to know where the damage figures that are done to targets come from, I have seen 2000-2500 Pistolshots, 3500 carbine shots and 4000 Polearm hits and I dont know how the heck anyone gets NEAR that kind of damage.
I am a Pistoleer so I will break down what I know of the dmg stats involved (that I know of), I have never approached 3000 Pistol shots (I get 1200 max) but I know for a fact people have consistently got 2000's:
Highest damage Pistol I have seen is FWG5, and with a maximum slice and a 35% powerup the best is around 350 (personally never seen this but I know they exist, some even say higher). Also, I know that the damage modifier on Fan Shot (best Pistoleer special) is x3, so basically what I am saying is that 350*3 does not equal anything near to 2500 so where does the extra damage come from because even after you get to Master Pistoleer there are no damage increasing skills, only accuracy and speed increases. PLEASE EXPLAIN!.
Base damage is always 1.5x the damage shown on the weapon.
Stopping shot does 4s damage.
Assuming an AR0 mob with no heat resistance, or any mob with a vulnerability to heat.
350 x 1.5 x 5 = 2625 damage.

Fan shot is not the best pistoleer attack, Stopping shot is. At master pistoleer stoping shot is really fast because all the speed we have. And anoother thing is Im a master smuggler and master pistoleer and my lastditch hits for 2k-4k with my 56-315 1.5 speed fwg 5. And stopping shot does near that.
Erm, I'd have to disagree ... at least if you measure what is "best" by DPS (damage per second). I am a master pistoleer, and Fan shot is a LOT faster than Stopping shot. When I was an Expert Bounty Hunter, and Master Pistoleer, it was a different story.
If you check the Pistoleer FAQ (sticky at the top), you can see a breakdown of special damages. Note that Fan shot does 62.3, compared to Stopping Shot's 44.5
If you are just infatuated with seeing high damage, then I can see how someone might think it's the best, but to me, it's a worthless special. A state effect (a short stun would seem to fit nicely) might make it worthwhile again.
