Thread: Why is Melee and Ranged not balanced?

In the past month I've seen 5 Gunfighters take on 1 buffed TKA/Heavy Swordsman and get completely owned. Why is this not balanced more? Frankly, it's completely ridiculous.

Excuse me, what I meant to say was on multiple occasions I've seen TKAs and Swordsman completely dominate groups of 5 or more highly skilled people, many with Pistoleer, some Bounty Hunter, some Doctors, some Commando, etc. Why are melee characters so much more powerful then someone with a gun? Last I checked gun vs. sword, gun wins unless they're a foot away from the swordsman and facing the other direction.

thats because your freinds are in fact, not skilled at all! if they were they would use a wonderfull tactic called kiting. Pistoleers have become to brave with their melee defense and defense vs knockdown. I always enjoy putting them in their place.

TKMS can be posture changed or kd'd and you can get seperation.. I do think TKMS should have there dizzy taken away they got a 20 meter lunge which can change posture already

Master brawlers have a 20m lunge, noob. Novice brawlers get lunge which only goes to 16m, but it is a posture change that RARELY works.

(Before anyone flames, I have full right to call him noob if you notice our guild tags..)

They upped the lunge range to 20m for melee.

Defenses are a bit out of control. One of my pals in my PA is a Master Swordsman, and when we duel the vast majority of my shots miss him -- and I'm a Master Pistoleer. It is frustrating sometimes ... he's just a Wookie with a hammer, not a Jedi!

I am working with some of the other Correspondents (like Novamarine, Tanks, etc.) on this and other issues. Hopefully we can get the Devs to take a look at all this stuff in the upcoming combat balance they have planned.

I think the main point some people are missing here is the part about "Buffed" if I'm fully buffed on all my stats, and pop a muon gold, You'd better stay more than 20 meters away from me. Meleehave so many problems, namely the fact that what is seen on the screen isn't really what is on the server. Although a player looks like they are 6 meters away from you, really they're 10 meters away from you, to you guys that means absolutely squat, to us it means the difference in a hit or a message "target out of range"

I'm Master Heavy Swordsman, and Master Brawler... What you described about the 5 people being taken out does happen sometimes, that's because I have some powerful area attacks, the only way I can use them is to be super buffed otherwise I'd take my pool all the way down to 1 in 3moves.

If I run up on someone in combat, they're standing still I swing and hit them, ( at home they see they're being attacked and start to move) to me it looks like the toon is still standing there but I get "target out of range" a second or two later I see you start to move, but you are really much further away than you appear to be.

Most of the Melee fighters who are very good in PvP, have learned to guess where the character is or where it will be, a lot of it is luck.

Ranged wins 90% of the time, don't gripe because sometimes we own you when you get too close.

Unless they made recent changes to how often it works, it rarely works.

Well i think most people overlook a very important thing and that is mellee's love to use buffs, their more dependent on them and seem to use them more.Truth is pretty much any combat class fully buffed (physical and mind ones) with 80% +comp can hold down a group of 5 or 6 easy.

I used to do it when i was just a MGF all the time, and yes i can still do it as a MGF/TKM as well. But it isn't the proffesion that does it, it's the buffs and good armor! When you see battles like that happen, it's usually asingle buffed and good armor'd person taking on a bunch of unbuffed and for the most part unarmored people. It sure does look impressive tho when it happens tho.

And truth be told as a MGF/TKM i use both combat styles pretty equally in PVP.I'll start off with a bleed stack then if they dont let me get in melllee range i'll do stopping shop, or bodyshot2,even fan shotoccasionaly .If they let me get range i try KD dizzy and unarmed 3 if they dont go down i do some state attacks and lay in with a pool specific attack.

I just don't think its so much the class as the good buffs and armor really

I agree, Im master TK and getting close to master Pistol, when Im buffed and use either its prety much the same out come. I use 80% and dont fight unless Im buffed most the time just because its more fun. 90% of melee I know that pvp use buffs. Most of the people I fight are not buffed that use ranged. I think on my server melee use more buffs then ranged by a long shot

It's totally possible to be able to defend against melee and ranged with one character in this game. If you aren't willing to learn how and spend the skill points, then it's just your own fault.
