Thread: Pistoleer Vs rifleman
What is the best why to fight a rifleman? I have seen them mind shot three people and killed all three people with three shots. All within a range of 20m( rifleman was not prone). I don't want to complain, but shouldn't a pistoleer beat a rifleman at close range? Not asking for nerfs! just info on the best way to fight them.
Posture change, run up, pistol melee defense 1, pistol melee defense 2 x3 or so.
Don't they take insane damage when you melee attack them?
That's just one suggestion...there are plenty more. Getting a good composite helmet is another smart move My helmet absorbs 55% of headshot and eyeshot damage. I look like a dork wearing it, but I look pretty cool when I'm the one dealing out the deathblow(lol, just being sillly).
I don't see a lot of master rifleman and master carbineers however, and I don't see a lot of 2-3 shotting going on, on average. Except of course from pets and ATSTs (which is dumb IMO and needs to be correct ASAP).
I don't see the speed so much a problem as the accuracy. What bothers me the most is that rifleman even beat out pistoleers in they're own game. The short range running gunfight. It should be murder for a rifleman to get close to such professions, just like it's murder for me as the pistoleer to pull out to they're range.
The real problem is that the accuracy mods are not detailed enough. Instead rifleman are just given for the most part a blanket accuracy modifier that applies regardless if they are running, prone, kneeling or whatever. At master they have such a nice accuracy mod, that even despite the apparent range limitation of they're weapons they can overcome that.
The problem with the system is this, it's doesn't appear capable of handling a situation as where I as the pistoleer get a big boost to my accuracy while at short range and running, and at the same time keep me from firing my pistol at rifleman ranges..... Perhaps it is possible, but in the current setup its just wrong.
I hate to see any profession get a nerf, butrifleman is definately one profession could use a little balancing..... or more like reality rather.Throw out all the ideas about speed caps, I'd much rather see a focus go into how accuracy works out amongst the3 ranged professions.Differences that are very obvious at novice levels should remain on up to master. But currentlyof the 3 ranged profession if each is at master, Rifleman wins hands down. They have the defenses, the speed, and the firepower.
I agree 100% riflemen should not have the accuracy we curently have, back in the day when we only had 90 accuracy our speed was balanced by the fact we missed alot. Now with our high ranged defence and high accuracy it's imbalancing.
When the developers adjusted the elite ranged combat professions rifleman went from the worst accuracy to the best by far. That was an over fix, the same goes when they removed the 2.5 melee damage penelty.

I think rifle should be 3, carbine 2, and pistol 1.
This is what a 3 second cap to rifles is going to do to your profession:

-Now a 2 second cap aint too harsh and we can deal with it(Not happly, but the 3 second nerf hasus scared. Oh and we will be talking crap until the game goes SWG 2, unless the Dev's fail).From what I know(Wich is still just rumor really), Rifleman are getting a dehabilitating 3 sec cap, a reduction in the damage of advanced strafe, and a reduction in our defence.
That right there will kill our profession and send the FOTM's looking for their next victum, carbineer/BH could be it with their AOE Dizzy's and KD, but Pistoleer/BH is also a likely target because of 1 shot persecond mind damage, dodge, and KD defence.
I'm just speculating though and what do I know except for the fact that I knew the accuracy boost and loss of melee penelty would eventually get the riflemen nerfed really bad.
