What is everyone's best spam for PvP if you are just Master Pistoleer?

I love fanshot just because I can literally incap 3 or 4 rebels all at once.

Before I added TKM/smuggler...


I'd usually try to get in PMD range then just unload with high damage spam (fan or stopping shot). One thing I see a lot of pistoleers trying on me latelyis stacking bleeds... This 100% of the time works to let me kill them. It's a good tactic against PvE targets but a terrible idea in PvP cause it means giving two extra chances to your opponent to damage you while you don't get a damaging shot in yorself.


If you are really interested in PvP with your pistol you should seriously consider addingthe BH pistol specials or the smuggler pistol specials to your arsenol.... At least until pistoleer specials get the much needed attention they are lacking right now.

1) Some people seem to like it, you get a ranged knockdown and delay from smuggler, and accuracy, speed and a load of defence against xyz from pistoleer.

2) Pistoleers primary attack target is the health pool. although we have very few (working) specials. Healthshot 1/2, bodyshot 1/2/3 and possibly a few others I can't remember off the top of my head target health, the rest (and sadly the majority) are random HAM damage. I think smuggler had mind pool attacks though, but the pistols you carry don't really effect on the HAM pool you attack.

4) Speed and defence against xyz are the main benefits. HS1 and HS2 are bleeds which may or may not be usefull (although you should already have HS1 from marksman) and the fanshot AOE is pretty usefull.

That is a strong PvP template for the time being. The only better avenue I've heard of is fencer/pistol/Rogue (smuggler) for that sort of combat type.


Currently, smuggler gets some nasty delay attacks and that ranged knockdown. However, the next patch, those delays will cut short the moment you attack the target you delayed. It makes it great for crowd control, but limits the usefulness in a duel setting (Ok, it eliminates its usefulness in a duel)


You will be blessed with solid ranged defense and REALLY good melee defense, as well as the massive dodge bonuses of Pistoleer. The problem is that you lose those dodge bonuses when you switch to unarmed combat, however, you get defensive acuity which does about the same thing, if its working right now.


One thing you may want to watch out for is that your character will be draining from two separate pools, Mind and Action. My template has this very same problem and limits your effectiveness with any one weapon, assuming you aren't planning on buffing all of your stats through the roof.


You'll be very solid with status defenses, given your template, so you won't have to worry about the dang knockdown/dizzy combo from the TKAs...


You won't have a big weakness that I can see. A master gunfighter may not be the best at ranged combat, but at least you can hit outside of 25m, and with Low Blow, you could probably do a good job of closing the range gap to make use of your TKA skills.

Here are the basic principles of your template (I am DF/Master Pistoleer/Master TKA, so I have the same skills as you)




  • Pistoleer/Smuggler DOES not defeat buffed opponents. There is no way around that. Thats a TKAs job.

  • When a target is unbuffed, they WILL die to your pistol skills.

  • The new Genosian pistol at 250+ is your best friend.

  • Always be power boosted.

  • Know when and not when to use Force of Will. If surrounded by 1 guy, use it. If not, don't.

  • Against a buffed opponent at a range, do lowblow/panic, fire last ditch while running up to them and apply dizzy.

  • Against a defense stacker, use UnarmedCombohit2. Trust me on this one.

  • As a TKA, go for the mind 75% of the time.

  • Wear good armor

  • Drink brandy

  • Have a variety of instant lifesavers (Pixie, Muon, Brandy, and other foods)

  • When not truely buffed, stay away from TKA.

I am currently working on a Pistoleer/TK/Master Smuggler. I like the Smuggler and TK for roleplaying reasons (I want to be Lucy Lu!)


The reason I am even considering Pistols is because of Smuggler. It seems is required to get in the Marksman tree and that leads straight to Pistoleer. Also, this is One Hybrid and Two Elite Professions. So that has to be well rounded, right?


Questions:


1. Is this a very strong PvP combination?


2. If you carry multiple pistols can you not attack different mind pools?


3. Any comments from those of you who have mastered these three? How is it working out?


4. In spite of all of the trouble I am reading about on these forums is the Pistoleer part of this template beneficial?

unarmed heat hit is your friend. Make sure you take advantage of intimidate and stun with TKA to lower defenses as well. Once the run away from you (if they ever get up), have a little fun with Last Ditch.

basicalyl here the template im working on (tweaked it so itll still be effective after rebalance (i hope dont know what ranged def an melee def will eb like tho)


master smuggler

master pistoleer

novice fencer then all 4 boxes in the line with the rang/mel def

tk 0/0/0/4 (if i ahve more sp ill take meditation aswell (of course))


cant remember the exact specs at the end ill look for where i wrote em down.


(this is assuming the dodge cap will be at 125, ive heard 125, 150 and 175 so im unsure, when we actually know then ill tweak it again)


basically ill be using my pistol, with master tk id end up punching em more than i would shooting them.
