Thread: Pistol Question, Which are the best?
From what I've seen, the Featherweight FWG5 has one of two problems:
1) it can't get its stats as high as the normal FWG5s, but the skill mods are supposed to make up for it.
2) It uses a metalof whichno one on my galaxy has any withhigh quality/conductivity.
The Featherweights I've seen have lower stats that the standard FWG5s I've seen. I could barely get them over 200 max damage (but granted I'm only a slicer and not a master yet). The FWG5 is the pistol I rely on most in PvE. If the creature I'm fighting has a high heat resist, then I'll switch to something else. Possibly the Republic or the DX2 (with fixed ranges. MY old one got put on the gun rack in my house). On Nightsisters, I'll use a Striker pistol.
PvP is a lot different, though. It's pretty much guaranteed in factional PvP (not duels) that the other guy is going to have some advanced composite armor on with 80+% kinetic resist and 50+% to everything but stun (mine is this way). With this armor, the other guy will be buffed with Master Doctor and, possibly, Entertainer buffs. He will also likely have some food and spice for that extra boost.
The DX2, FWG5 and Republic Blasters will only do 12.5% of their normal damage in this respect. That's the 75% PvP damage reduction and the armor's 50%. As you can see, it's very tough (not impossible)for a pistoleer to win in this scenario, especially with the amount of broken specials we have. The Geonosian Stun Pistol is our new hope. The Tangle pistol is too low damage and too slow to be effective in PvP, even with slices. The stun pistol promises to be the new king of Pistoleer PvP. But it's rare right now.
So, in PvP, just use whatever gun you want (Itend to stick with the Republic Blaster for its armor piercing). But be aware that the armor is going to suck up a lot of the damage. And, to a pistoleer, it may seem as if you're not doing any damage at all.
