Howdy all,
This is something that I have been thinking about lately, as I have been PvPing heavily over the last few days. Most ideal ranges on pistols are around the 5-15 meter range, there are exceptions I'm sure but in average this is true. I know my Geo pistol has an ideal range of 7 meters, I think my Scatter pistol is also right in there at 7 meters as well. All Melee guys can attack to a range of 20 meters and probably have an Ideal range of 3 to 5 meters. Really anything past 30-35 meters won't hit with a pistol, well in my experience anyway this is true. So we only really have a couple meters difference in range with Melee users.
So since we are to be right up against Melee users, wouldn't it make sense for us to have a higher Melee Defense or some type of Melee Toughness? I'm not sure how much Melee Defense Riflemen or Carbineers get, but it just doesn't seem like we Pistoleers get enough in terms of Defense if we are to be within the grasp of a Melee attacker. I'm also not sure what will happen to melee range after the Combat Balance but I have heard from others that is no planned changes to Melee 20 meter range.
I don't know how anyone else feels about this, I think it makes some sense that a pistoleer would be accustom to being right in the middle of the action and would be able to take a little bit more punishment than say a Rifleman whose Ideal range is generally 60 meters.
Just a thought I had as I was getting beat down by a Swordsmen

Rifleman have almost as much melee defense, and about hojillion times more ranged defense. That's one of the problems. This should ALL be addressed in the combat revamp, and the Dev's refuse to fix anything combat relate until then.

What do you all think about the +20 melee defense from the FS tier? I was debating if I should unlock melee defense or a much easier tier to grind like repair. Does +20 melee defense make that much of a difference for a jedi (especially for all the effort it takes to complete now)? What is your opinion?

Repair? As in the FS Crafting Tree?
1) WHy would you even consider that branch?
2) My Force Assembly branch was the most boring, never ending grind I have done in the game yet.
I would avoid the Force Sensitive Crafting Tree at any cost.
Melee Defense, Ranged Defense, Melee Speed, Melee Accuracy are a must

exactly, get both defenses, speed, and accuracy....the other 2 are your choice

I didn't realize the crafting grinding was as bad (or worse) as the combat grind. They are all really pointless and stupid in my opinion. I guess I will stick with the combat grind. Thanks again.

assembly and expirimentation might be helpful for the saber based on the pearl drops happening now but I would go for something else. The scout tree was a nice moneymake because you could harvest without having any scout. When I was grinding that was millions of credits I made by harvesting the bajillion creatures I leveled on.
