Okay there has been some complaining about losing the ranged knockdown from Disarming2 that is on test center. I am not a master yet so it doesn't bother me too much, I wont miss anything. But I did want to make a suggestion that I thought was a cool idea.

There was some talk about giving Master Pistoleers a new cert for a pistol that only they can use. This is a great great great idea. I really hope they do it. My suggestion is to bind the knockdown ability to the weapon, not a skill. That way master pistoleers still get a ranged knockdown, but they gotta be able to get the gun to do it. This would make it a little rarer and might help with the balancing.

Think about it like this. A .22 is a pretty small bullet, while I have never been shot or know anyone who personally has been, I watch alot of forensic dectives on Discovery (=P). Now if you get hit with a .22 you probably wont fall over, unless it kills you outright, which in real life is likely. Now before some military/survivalist flames me, realize I admit that I am talking out my butt, I would prefer a confirmation or denial about how I think a person would react to being shot by a .22 rather than a flame.

Anywho, now take a .44. A .44 is going to leave an exit wound you can toss a cat through. Definatly enough stopping power to drop an attacker, or even an innocent bystander. So this is the basis for my idea. Go ahead and take away knockdown from the disarming shot that master pistoleers get, just bind it a weapon that only they can use.

Better yet give masters 2 new weapons and certs. One with decent armor piercing from something other than acid, heat, or energy, and another weapon that has the knockdown ability.

So, am I off my rocker? What do we think guys?

I like it, Give me a .44 revolver with nockdown.

Pistoleers need something to match the shere power of a Bounty hunter. Hows this for logic?

Bounty hunter = more Speed/accuracy for both Carbine ( AND ) Pistol. then both a master carbineer and master pistoleer.

Did any of you guys see a bounty hunter do anything good in the movies? Cept fly around on a jetpack weee!

I definately like the idea of introducing a couple more pistols higher up on the Pistoleer tree...maybe one at lvl 2 or 3 and one at Master. I don't understand why there are crap loads of pistols available to marksman and only 1 unique available to a Master Pistoleer after all that pistol XP...crazy.

That's a cool idea, and I really like seeing people post calmly with ideas and logic instead of the ranting I've seen so much of on so many of these forums. So cheers to you Shufflefield

One thing I find interesting is that Carbine has nothing to make their Master skill worth the effort either. I think that Master Carbine should be improved - also given a great weapon cert, or a cool special shot - something. And obviously Master Pistoleer should be improved in a similar manner (all Master skil levels should give something significant - master should MEAN something).

I think one of our biggest problems with our pistoleer specials is what they do. They do damage. And damage. And damage. And damage. Others have ones that do damage and stun. Damage and dizzy. Damage and stun and blind. Damage and dizzy and posture down. Etc... They have special EFFECTS on the special attacks. Especially since we have the crappiest pool target (health) and a very poor attack for it (BS3), we should really have some nice tactical specials on our other attacks.

I think this is a great idea. We need SOMETHING to make our class worthwhile, now that our only useful special is gone.

Pistoleer needs to be equal to a bounty hunter in combat. Can i get you to agree on that?

All the combat professions, at master level should have a chance at winning when played by a smart person. There are people that reach master levels and aren't creative or versatile enough to do well so they may think they're underpowered when it's more their fault. The exceptionsare bounty hunters who were created to take down marks in special missions, and commandos that were made for taking out vehicles and structures. It's all the other combat classes that are the foot soldiers and need to be balanced and equal. I don't think BH and commando were designed to be the same kind of PvP as the others.

Please stay on topic, this is not a debate about BH vs. Pistoleer etc.

What if a player goes BH pistol 4, and master pistolleer? Should he be more powerful than any class combo that exists?

Either additionally, or instead of this excellent suggestion, I would be just as happy with a Suppression Fire 2 that only changes state for a few seconds? This would allow us some form of crowd control without letting us lay waste to everything we meet.

Area effect suppresion fire would be pretty cool. Sounds more like a carbine skill. But it sounds cool.

As for the gun, having a giant Desert Eagle would be fun. HOWEVER, the knockdown should happen all the time with it. it shouldn't be 'free' for shooting the weapon either. There should still be a special move and a HAM cost and whatnot for a ranged knockdown, even after they nerf knockdown more.

Why are we screwing around with the idea of getting some shiny new gun that will probably be useless like the DX2?

If they actually give us one that means rifleman and carbine will have to get one too so it is both unlikely to happen and unlikely to matter.

We should be fighting the disarm2 nerf with all of our might, yet we are talking about shiny new toys...
