Thread: what will be my role when the next big patch goes through

I am a master tka, novice pistoleer and subpar novice smuggler (only learning the dirty fighting line)


I created this character for pure unadulterated combat and to be able to win


I started on the 27th of June like everyone else did and in that first month i was something pretty special, I enjoyed the way things were going.. everyone had thier ups and downs of course something were overpowered and the first nerf hit berserk and KD that was cool.. i shouldnt be able to KD huge end game beasts allowing me to powerlevel myself when i did go out to fight.. (lounge lizard most of the time hehe)


Now ill pause my narration here because it must be said that i love to duel in cantinas.. it is something that i do alot of.. i've even discovered ways to stop cheesey 20 meter starts for gunners.. I was at the top of my food chain


Then the big patch hit us.. KD's were nerfed to uselessness for only one profession tka.. of all the professions that were considered over powered.. it had to be tka.. a character that outside in the open wouldnt have a snowballs chance in hell in actually getting one off because we all know moving while attacking for a melee doesnt work unless its a lunge.. which even that doesnt slow anyone down..


soooo, i decided ok.. kd is insane now perhaps if i pick up a pistol like the devs say i should i can be viable to play in the ranged game not to mention ill have a pretty nifty close in kd to boot one that wont kill me in three uses..


I got very comfortable in the pistoleer role my first skill that i trained in was pistol specialization for the bonuses.. next was melee defence.. again i kill lots of animals and junk but im not powerleveling myself as they fixed that from the first kd patch anyway.. i no longer have to worry about blue creatures mobbing my master tka and killing him with this move.. but


now with the next big patch going live and all others that have come since the big patch we see things like uber elite imps stalking starbases with three at-st's that before today could be taken down with alot of effort.. alot of ham.. and a bunch of bleed shots.. now they are invincible and imp players still control three at a time


the next big patch will take our disarm shot line and turn it into something else.. (i do not have even disarm 1 yet) from what i gather disarm1 was more like somethign you could kill lairs with.. disarmshot 2 had an aoe kd effect.. that sounded cool but its not to be that way anymore.. kd will be taken from that move


which leads me to the next few things i have to say


all posture changing moves are now 30 second timers.. this completely screws my tka side of my character.. even if i were to use a lunge move to force a posture change it doesnt work in pvp and it takes spammin it a few times to get the desired effect.. make the person lay down so you can catch them.. so now we can only bring them to a knee joy.. watch my enemy as he presses his right mouse button to get up and continue to run away.. wait i cant lunge him for another 30 secs? omg!


kd moves.. ok the sense i get here is that kd has become the only move most people use because its cheap and effective.. i mean look at bounty hunters and you will see what i mean.. nuff said


another 30 second timer for something that will last roughly as long as a lunge move will.. the time it takes you to get up off the ground will be the five second mark.. wont slow you down wont detriment you in anyway it is now useless..


TKA were the top of the food chain in close fighting.. now they arent.. soon pikemen (lots of zabraks with a darth maul fettish will own in melee) will be followed by fencer then heavy swordsmen then the lowest of the low combat professions tka..


in the ranged category.. (i swear i wont rant about bh's even tho they are jack of all trades characters and shouldnt have better pistol mods than a master pistoleer)..


i see the bounty hunters staying on top of the food chain with better gun mods than masters of any ranged category


commando if they ever get fixed should really be number 1 because of the hardware they are supposed to be able to have


riflemen.. well what can i say.. if you scream in the dark and no one hears you you think youre all alone then something cool happens like you get an awesome gun to compliment your already awesome skill sets.. grats guys.. much love for our long range bruthas


carbineers... its not enough that carbines do massive damage.. but you guys get a ranged kd too and to couple that with BH makes you unstopable... yeah we all know that carbines are slow right? no they arent look at the speed mods these guys get and you will see that carbineers are a close third to the riflemen if bh is mixed in the carbineer profession forget it go to number 1 this is truly the end game character


pistoleer.. ehh well seems here i am at the bottom again.. 40% of my skill sets dont work.. my defences dont work.. nothing works yet they are going to nerf us.. hmm why is body shot 2 more damaging than body shot 3... hmm why doesnt disarm actually disarm? who do moves like double tap and fan shot suck and do nothing as far as damage?


and on top of it all why if we arent able to really disarm or destroy our opponents weapons (which i would love to do) with that line is our aoe kd effect being taken away after the 30 second timer and five second down nerf?


you have taken two of the most interesting professions if not the most common.. and put them in the gutter.. then you take the bounty hunter who admittedly has some troubles (not as many as other professions by far) and made them more powerful


last i checked the game said live the greatest starwars saga: your own..


hmm my saga starts with i used to be good now i suck thank the dev team i suppose...


now dont get me wrong there seems to be a method in the devs madness.. and it would probably cut down on alot of negative posts if the devs just come out and say what each profession is supposed to do and how it equates with the other professions.. because when this next patch goes in ill feel like i wasted 2 months building the suckiest character in the galaxy

i am having a hard time understanding what a master pistoleer means. does it mean the best user of pistols in the game?


No. It means: "The master pistoleer has gained significant improvements in short-range firearms along with a series of special abilities for nearly every situation."


why are all of the pistoleers now getting nerfed. why? becasue we did not cry about not being the sweetest pvp dudes and not winning every freakin battle.


I find it ironic that the profession calling for the most nerfs (read: pistoleer) wonders why the nerf-bat swung in our direction. What is so devasting about the changes in regards to pistoleer to this point?


1) knockdown ham increases: well I can still spam pistolwhip for 86 as opposed to 23. Translate that percentage to carbine based knockdown and its in the mid 200s. For TKAs its up to 200/600 depending on whether VKs are equiped.


2) Disarm shot2: If you didn't see this FIX coming you didn't read its description very well. Why anyone would read it and think "oh yeah, an AOE knockdown at 64m with a pistol makes sense!" must be smoking the same crack as the devs.


Maybe instead of all the BH envy thats CONSTANTLY on the front page of this board, an outcry for the defensive and posture change modifiers to actually have an effect would do us better. You do realize that if they would make this functional (assuming it isnt already) and left the oh so uber BH KD alone, we'd probably kill them easier as they would waste all that HAM as we might resist it.

Well your defensive bonuses are going to be pointless if this patch makes dizzy and knockdown not worth using. Instead of fixing defenses they nerfed the attacks themselves. Pistoleers should be asking that the defensive bonuses be replaced with something that actually works dont ask me what though.

Well which is it? Are carbineers and BHs unstoppable because of KD or is KD useless? Or is knockdown useless only to TKA. Personally the carbine based knockdown is much worse for them as it is both slower and costs much more ham than your (and my) pistol based KDs. At least you don't suffer from lower defense penalties like a carbine user does when using his weapon.

I forgot to cut/paste your remarks about KD cost nerf hurting the TKA the most. Was the increase in cost for TKA that big a deal since it seems your implying that BHs are the only one to spam such a move.

i cant believe i worked as far as i did in pistoleerjust to get knocked down. why are all of the pistoleersnow getting nerfed. why?becasue we did not cry about not being the sweetest pvp dudes and not winning every freakin battle.


we can allwhine about each others classes all day and accomplish nothing. i would like to see some hard evidence concerning why pistoleers are nerf targetsespecially concerning kd. is getting knocked down any different than getting eyeshoted(sp) and being dizzy from the bh, or tacklefrom a tka, oris it any different than getting kited by a rifleman and mindshot? is was the only effective pvp move for pistoleers. you say it was cheap, and i ask, was it any different than the moves i already mentioned?


does being a master bh mean you should own all in pvp? i saw nothing in the manual about the uber lewt bh class, but you can correct me if im wrong. i am having a hard time understanding what a master pistoleer means. does it mean the best user of pistols in the game? does master rifleman mean best rifle user? does master carbineer mean best carbine user? i guess that master pistoleer means 2nd best user of pistols in the game and getting nerfed every time the 14 year old neighbor kid cant beat me at swg and his mom.....i meanthe devs say i should let him win.
