Thread: Giving up some Pistoleer.

Well right now I am 0/3/3/2 in Pistoleer. It has always been my intention to become a Master Pistoleer, but right now I am just too upset with it. The only Pistoleer attack I use at all is Healthshot2, once in a while I use PistolMeleeDefence, but not that often, and sometimes I use Stoppingshot if I know I can one-hit kill an enemy with it, but I never use it regularly because of the awful delay, and randomness of it.

I am changing my final goals for Pistoleer to be 0/4/0/3 and going after the dirty fighting line from Smuggler instead. I am kind of sad to have to throw away so much work I have put towards pistoleer, but I don't really see where it is making me that much better.

Theoretically I could do 0/4/0/1 in Pistoleer and grab the Pistol line from Bounty Hunter instead (I'm already a master scout and 0/4/0/4 in marksmen, so its just a matter of doing rifle and carbine)

Any thoughts? I know there are many hybrid pistoleer/smugglers and pistoleer/BH on this board.

Well, I am not sure how many skill points ou have left, but I would suggest waiting until the last possible minute to ntrainthose skills because of all the work you put into them.... I have faith that at some point the Devs will figure all this out and actually start balancing these classes making all the lines useful in soem way or another.... so in the long run you may want to just sit with what you have and now start training Smuggler skills with other skill points...

I was thinking of dropping some stuff too, but it is just too much work. I am 0/3/0/1 pistoleer right now, and even though I don't see myself filling a box anytime soon due to the insane requirements I am going to stick it out. Mostly because I know that as soon as I drop it, the Dev's will nerf everyone else and boost pistol back up. Just the way it is. I suspect that for a long while to come it will be an endless wave of one class better than the next, and the next day it will change. Eventually it will balance out and I think pistolleer will be a worthy class.

So I guess they nerfed sigs too?

I was looking at a character builder, and if I go 0/4/0/1 in pistoleer and 0/0/4/0 in Bounty Hunter, I will end up with 145 in Pistol Accuracy, is this hard capped at 100? Or does it take in account for for the modifier in front of the creature name? So if I have a -50 modifier I would still have 95% chance to hit? Or does this work completely differently?

Yeah it seems the board and I are having a difficulty playing nice together... If a moderator or whoever would delete those to Well I and Well I am's I would appreciate it...

Back to the topic at hand...

BH's are going to get hit hard with a nerf at some point, so banking on them staying good is a bad idea... also think of all the work you are wasting by untraining all the xp worth of skills... I strongly suggest sticking it out, even if yo don't actively train anything new for a bit...

Well my its not like I'm hitting surrender skill immediately. I've been looking at the Bounty Hunter skills now, because after firther thought it seems like a much better path than Smuggler. However I'd say the only changes that can really happen in Pistoleer to make it fundamentally better is when Bodyshot 3 gets fixed, if ever. I don't even have that line at all right now.

Maybe you are right, maybe I should wait. I know though that I couldprobably finish Master Marksmen in a day or two, I haveenough experience right now for Novice BH and the first two boxes of the pistol line. So its tempting from afew standpoints. Having anotherbleed and eyeshot with about as much effort as it would take me to just finish out the stances line and getfanshot (which doesn't seem too exciting) Already just those two shots, and the ton of added accuracy and speed I'd get seem to make the whole switch worthwhile.

As for future nerfs, improvements... It might happen, it might not, predicting what the devs are going to do not even Yoda could handle.

Pistoleer needs three things to be competitive at this point... 1) A stronger Bodyshot than Bodyshot2. 2) A shot that targets the Mind Pool. (I think Stopping shot should do this.)3) A status effect attack other than bleed (ie Dizzy or something)

Bodyshot 3 probably will eventually be better than Bodyshot 2 I would hope. I seriously doubt Pistoleer will ever get a mindpool shot and I doubt BH will ever lose Eyeshot. I don't know if Pistoleer will ever get a new status effect attack... I don't think it will be soon.
