Funny you should say that, I'm a Pistoleer who just today decided to start going up the medic class to become a Doctor also

Made this decision after a Master Doctor buffed my stats and I went out hunting. After working up through some weaker spawns I tried out a Sharnaf spawn (all con red to me) and with a bit of tactics went through 5 or 6 complete respawns of them. 20 some Sharnaf's dead and I only got incapped once, mind got too low and i wasn't paying attention. Racked up 75K pistol experience in about an hour fighting them.

It looks like it could be a good combination, but I have no idea what things are like going up the doctor tree. Might be easier just to pay for the buffs

I'm currently a MasterGunfighter, and 4/4/0/4 in Doctor. It's not cakewalkworking up the Doc trees. In fact, I found mastering Pistoleer a much easier task.At one time, I was an Expert Bounty Hunter/Master Gunfighter. I foundI misssed my Medic skills, and opted to drop Bounty Hunter for Doctor.

The difference is staggering. Losing thePistol speed from Bounty Pistol and Master Marksman was a serious blow to my combat capabilities, as was the loss ofEye shot, and Torso Shot.Ikeep telling myself that it will all be worth it once I'm buffing my stats by 2500 for over an hour, but I'm not so sure it will be.

I'm more vulnerable to mind shots now, as I have to heal more often (draining blue bar). The heals themselves arenice; basically they are a full HAM heal, but not that muchbetter than I had with Novice Medic. A good stim-b, can heal800+(400 ish base), and only needs NoviceMedic to use.

If you just wantdoctor for the heals, you can stop atNovice Medic and bepretty well off, whilebeefing upyour combat skill in other lines. If you're like me, and like to be self-sufficient, then maybe Doc would be a nice compliment. Personally, I don't think it's a matter of having to pay for the buffs that bothers me, it's relying on someone else every timeI want one

Be prepared for a long grind, though. The crafting trees are the toughest, in my opinion. I love cranking out stims, and selling them, but while you're working up the trees, you get the best exp by handmaking all your medical supplies. That leads to some sore wrist action.

The healing exp is a little easier to get. Hanging out in a med center used to be great exp (especially when those CH's would cycle through a few 10k ham pets that needed some mending. You don't get medical exp for healing pets anymore, which is a bummer, so you might have to hang out in cantinas and heal up entertainers when the med centers are slow.

Good luck, have fun

I'm a master pistoleer/doctor with 0/4/4/4 and a couple scout skills and I am definitely not regretting my choice to be a doctor. The buffs easily make the biggest difference. I can spam any attackand it's my mind pool that limits me, not my action. Since I can have the buffs up all the time, I migrated my stats so my mind pool and regens are maxed out. Having 2500+ health/action means that other than the occasionally random mind hit, I can tank for a long time. Of course, having revive is also incredibly useful, and will become even more so once insurance is reinstated.

I'm a fairly casual style player and i'm doing the Doctor/Pistoleer path as well. I'm 2/4/3/4 in Doctor, 0/0/1/0 in Pistol, Ranged Support IV, Explore IV and Survey IV. I've been enjoying it so far. It'sbeen very flexible and lets me do a bit of everything in thegame except entertainer stuff. I cango out fighting in a group or solodepending on mymood. I can socialize in Med Centers or Cantinas if that'swhat I feel like. I craft meds if I feel like crafting instead. I do a little bit of mining for my supplies and sell off resourcesto keep me supplied in the lastest, greatest guns from my server's master weaponsmiths. A BE/CH friend of mine gave me a Kahmurra pet when he upgraded to a sludge panther, and that's made a big difference as I let it do the tanking now and don't have to heal myself anywhere near where I did before. Currently I'm intending on mastering both Doctor and Pistoleer, so I need to start surrending skills soon. I'm not sure which line I want to surrender right now as I'm finding all of them very useful. Luckily, I'm going slowly enough through Pistoleer that I won't need to surrender too many skills all at once.

The Doctor crafting can be a pain, but there are ways of making it better. I used a small macro that would open my toolboxes and automatically load the Biological Effect Controller schematic. It cut out a few mouse clicks, and significantly sped up my crafting grind. I was able to get 3 to 5 BECs out a minute. I used junk resources that were easy and cheap to get in bulk, and would just sit down somewhere and crank the BECs out in practice mood. It really didn't take very much time at all.

macros are good for crafting. Doc/CM workin on pistol now. If you are fortunate enough to have a couple harvesters, get a ton of lokian wild wheat and tatooinian fiberplast. use the macros and practice on advanced bio effects. they net you 84xp each. Its the fastest way to grind that i've found. Making stims/ enhancements/ rez kits etc. just dosent pay off for the downtime.

The most brutal part of Master Pistoleer/Doctor is really that you are limited to Explore 2.

Otherwise the template is awesome for soloist. Buffs + any combat class is good really.
