Thread: Multitargetpistol works (but, it's still useless)

In order to get multitargetpistol to work, you need to actually hit a monster before it gets added to the 'target list' for multitargetpistol. It doesn't mattter if you use disarmingshot2 or just auto pistol fire.

So if you start off with disarmingshot2, it can hit a number of targets and when you follow it with multitargetpistol, it cycles through all the targets you just hit using disarmingshot2.

So just starting the battle with multitargetpistol doesn't work because you haven't designated the 'target list' yet.

In any case, the damage/speed/HAM cost ratio is worse than manually cycling through each target and using fan shot, so I don't see the point of using this attack at all.

Are you sure you have to hit the mob? Not just have the mob in combat?

We (riflemen) have this problem with our AE attacks as well. The odd thing is that status effects still get applied to targets that don't do damage. I personally get around this problem by doing a regular shot on one of the mobs - if the mobs BAF, this typically puts the rest into combat mode (with me) and my AEs operate properly from that point on.

Also, how can you say the DPS is worse than a single target attack? Obviously, at some number of potential targets, any AE will surpass any single target attack.

It shoots at every target in turn at your normal firing rate. It's not a normal AOE cone shot.

The DPS seems pretty good, but the HAM costs are exorborant. I'll stick with tab+hotkey..

DPS I tested was well below fan shot, which means broken, if it's not attackingmultiple opponents at the same timeAND costing more HAM. Correct me if I'm wrong on that, I didn't test it much since I had such a hell of a time gettting it to work. I can certainly retest now, but I cannot get delay info..I might get someone else in-game to help with it one day soon.

Good work!

LOL, target list, like I have the brain overhead to manage a target list with this current combat targeting system (or lack of), and pet galore. Cone effect please...I mean, really now.

Sequential firing at 2x the HAM cost and lower DPS? Heheh.

I'd label this, still broken.

Multitarget has a seriously hefty HAM cost. I'm a doctor, so I'm usually running around with massive HA stats, and even still, the HAM cost for multitarget makes it quite useless. This is with my DX2. With a scout, the HAM cost wouldn't be so bad.

But, when you are fighting multiple enemies, it is almost always best to kill one at a time, unless you have an area attack that simultaneous hits every target. I suppose if the monsters are positioned just right, you could use disarm2 and multitarget to kill them all at about the same time, but that is a unique case. Since we are losing the cone effect of disarm2, multitarget becomes even less useful.

I was testing this attack a bit against some rock beetles (level 14?) earlier today. I had about 8 of them beating on me at once, and by the time I got them all down to about 40% life, I ran out of mind and had to burst run away. If I had stuck with disarm2/whip to keep several knockdowned and focused fire on one at a time, I would have been fine.

Wow. That's horrible. Panic shot will hit for about 500 damage with my DH17 pistol for a cone effect.
