The resists for mobs currently dont display so we don't know what damage type is best against anything at the moment.

The rule I use is that Energy is better against Animals and Kinetic is best against NPC's. No idea if that works at all though.

yeah, i noticed that nothing comes up when I examine an enemy. how bout personal experience? BS, do you find that your energy weaps do actually do more dmg than your kinetic weaps on mobs? anyone else gone back and forth and checked their combat log? Maybe we can create a database since we can't just look at our enemy anymore and tell what to shoot him with

I have an energy and kinetic FW FWG5 that are almost the same so can do some testing on it.

Very hard to measure. In PvP, people use PSGs so kinetic is usually best (duh). As for animals...I've tried my kinetic and energypistols out (very similar damage range) on a variety ofstuff and it seemed like energy was a little better against melee attackers while kinetic was a little better against spitters/ranged attackers. Usually. I often switch pistols mid-combat to see.

But there are always exceptions and too many dang animals on which to test stuff. I always wondered if it had something to do with their hides, which would make sense. Energy being deflected better from scaley, etc. Too complicated. There's probably someone out there assembling a Star Wars Monster Manual with all this info and stats, I'll just wait for it, lol...

Yeah, the only way is to look at your combat spam using different damage types. You don't have to have identical pistols but rather just use the verbose combat spam which will tell you total damage before armor and damage after armor. Then you can calculate the resistance to each damage type.

In practice, I've been too lazy to do this and just stick to my FWG5. But yeah, some industrious person should make a database of this info.

All I know is that a Gorax absorbs 47.3% Energy damage and 47.6% Kinetic damage. So Energy is better, but only slightly so, to be honest it wouldn't even be worth switching to an Energy weapon just for this reason in my opinion.
