I assume the game has built-in limits for Pistol accuracy, speed, defenses?
I was evaluating this template:
MP / MBH / SL 0404
gen ranged acc 202. Add in Pistol Acc (40)= 242 + 12 FS ranged acc= 254
Can it get that high, or does this reach some sort of game maximum? Add in a dmg capped Scatter and watch the mayhem.
Also:
ranged Def 235 + 50 pistol Def = 285 + group ranged Def (25) = 310
Add in clothing +25, group with a droid, some food, you're at 350'ish...
That seems extremely high, are those real numbers, or do you hit a game limit?
And meleeD seems even better than most melee profs:
meleeD 220 + 50 pistol Def= 270 (+25 AA) = 295? Nice... again if there's no internal game limit.

There is no limit on your mods anymore, except teh +25 cap on SEAs and BE clothing.
It all comes down to the fact that the more you get, the less difference it makes.
So you see a massive difference between 0 and 50 mods, but not much at all between 300 and 350.

Well until you run into an Aura macroing Jedi that is.....in that case you can never have enough accuracy in PvP.

Glad to see more people with this template
. As you mentioned, the accuracy and speed mods are decent, and the defense is tremendous. Couple it with Imp. Duelist Stance, Rally, and a Droid, your defense goes into the 600s allowing you to mitigate a lot of damage. Good armor, SEA's, and defense foods will allow you to last in pvp almost as easily as having healing skills. At this point you will be pushing 800 defense, impressive to say the least.
I dont know if this is true or not, but I saw a speed analysis done by a guild awhile back, showing that the curve wasnt logarithmic, but cubic, meaning that after a certain stretch of small returns, higher speed values would once again start to grant increasing returns. If this was true, it would make sense that accuracy and defense would follow a similar pattern. This is speculation, of course, until someone takes the time to experiment, but having 800 defense is nevertheless amazing, no matter the type of curve.

would be nice of the dev's to explain 'diminishing returns' in depth a little. what if 100 melee defense is as good as 300?

Ok, need some advice (from an rifle person):
I'm trying three templates in three days (still in respec)... other template is a high damage one:
MP / MBH / MM / Carb x3xx:
gen ranged acc 215 + Pistol Acc (40)= 255 + PA CA (25) + GRA CA (25) = 305 (wow)
pa 40
ps 45
rangeD 195 + 50 = 245
meleeD 175 + 50 = 225
pistolD 50
ps 45
rangeD 195 + 50 = 245
meleeD 175 + 50 = 225
pistolD 50
Defenses are lower, but nice accuracy mods to compensate. Here's the issue: With a 82 sac dmg capped pistol I'm doing rifle-type damage, but takes TWO shots to accomplish the same damage I'm already doing with rifle on my alt. That means twice the HAM usage (2 shots vs 1), and a mandatory SAC PUP to spam specials like I'm used to with my 82 SAC rifle.
I tried sticking a speed PUP on my pistol to see the effects, and ran out of HAM almost immediately even with heavy food and a Pixie. Rediculous. Grinded NPC marks and Bols/Pikets/Gurks for 4 hours with the template, not impressed at all due to HAM problems. I'd rather give up some damage for healing, especially since I do the most damage and therefore get the most aggro. The state effects are nice, as well as leg shot however.
Am I doing something wrong? How do you guys regulate your HAM use?

The problem is your pistol, 82 sac is bad and made even worse when you use a speed pup. The cap is 65, get a pistol as near that as you can, and use a sac pup. As long as you get below 50 you should be fine, no matter how fast youre firing (with foods, etc.) This template is good, but if you think 305 acc with SEA's is "wow", try:
Master Marksman/Master Rifleman/Master Carbineer/0414 Pistoleer/4400 Combat Prowess
Thats 357 acc with a rifle from only your template. This is a really difficult template to fight with though since you really dont want to be hit, with no healing or mitigation, you have to rely on being able to kill them before they get to you. But, it is definitely worth trying if you still have respec.

Yeah, I have the same question. What is the droid for?

Thanks for the template tip, I'll make it my fourth to try
Running around in my shorts though doesn't sound fun, though especially since I'll be the aggro person thanks to increased damage. Shopping for a new lower SAC now!
As per the droid, you group with it using the Squad Leader template to obtain the "grouping bonuses". No group, no bonus so everyone uses a droid when they're out hunting BH marks, etc.

Yup, the droid is for grouping purposes, but it can actually be a very useful friend. Having a lvl30 combat droid will stop regen on most opponents, They attack surprisingly fast and against a gorax or krayt, can almost match its health regen leaving you with less work and an easier kill. The droid will never outdamage you and doesnt use area attacks meaning nothing will attack it. It's like having a second gun that fires as if you were lvl30. In a twisted way its duel-wielding.
