Thread: Dodge vs Melee Def. vs Melee Mitigation -- Advice Please

I currently have - 105 Dodge, 45 Melee Def, 7 Ranged Def


My choices are:


A) +15 (120)Dodge, +69 (114) Melee Def, +69 (76) Ranged Def


B) +30 (135) Dodge, +54 (99) Melee Def, +54 (61) Ranged Def, Melee Mitigation 1
C) +75 (180) Dodge, +15 (60) Melee Def, +15 (22) Ranged Def, Melee Mitigation 2, +40 (80) Blind D, +40 (80) Dizzy D, +20 Int D


I play primarily PvE (NPC's mostly though).


From your experience or knowledge, what would you choose??


Also, if you know of a place that better explains how melee def, ranged def and mitigation are actually factored into the damage calculation, please provide a link. I'd appreciate it.

Keep in mind that meleemitigation only works when using a mele weapon. That might affectyourquestion some, assuming you're looking to use primarily ranged weapons.

Dodge, Melee Defense, and Ranged Defense are all capped at 125, so given your options I would say A is your best bet. In my opinion at least, state defenses are better for PvP, but since you say your focus is PvE than I would definitely go the ranged/melee defense route.

As far as I know, I dont think anyone has ever figured out exactly how secondary defenses (like dodge) are calculated, but it is believed that your opponents accuracy plays a very big role in whether it triggers or not. The thread by Noules is kind of old, but Im pretty sure it still holds water to this day. Hope that helps!
