Like many of you i have wondered and waited, why havent we got and more pistols added to our arsenal yet. This thinking made me look back on what pistols were avaliable to use now that mostof usdont take advantage of.

While fighting on Lok, my brother (Master TKA)and I came across a Kilamoda (spelling?) Dragon, while in the middle of exp gringing we figured that this would be a good hunt. So we started in on the beast, it wasnt until my brother incaped that i realized i was doing 20 damage to this think a pop. That with specials. After a quick FD, i examined the creature to realise that this think was 100% resist to acid and heat, and 75% energy. (?) give or take

So i started my serch for diffrent types of damage, i came across 3 guns that sparked an intrest. A weapon smith friend and i have been experminting around with the stryker, tangel and SR combat pistols. So far i have managed:

Stryker: 69-169 2.4 w/powerup (+15%min/ +30max) Tangel: 59-150 3.4 (same power up) SR: still working on it

What drew me to these particular guns was there types of damage and also the AP, of the SR combat pistol. Stryker has kenetic damage, Tangel Stun and the SR has energy with light armor piercing. Now from what i understand ofweapon smithing is that these are limited in a few ways that other pistols like the fwg5 are not. But if we could kind a way to bring these pistols into a useable range of damage and speed they would be invaulable. For example: Hardly anyting in the gamehas defence to Stun damage, and the SRcombat pistol would be the 2nd gun avaliable with AP. And the stryker, well.....it was the only thing that **edit** dragon was vunerable to.

My question is, has anyone else exparminted around with these guns, and if so what type of mods are you seeing on the? Adding 3 more potentialy decent guns to ourarsenal would greatly help things out.

I also forgot to mention they were sliced by yours truly, 24-26% damage respectivily.

The weapons you mentioned are gated by specific resource qualitites, or lack of component ingrediants in the schematic. The Tangle could be a decent weapon if it used power handlers or pistol barrels of any type. The current "viable" most used weapons like the scout, fwg5, scatter, launcher and dx2 have these components in their schematic, allowing the Smith to boost the overall stats of the gun. Unless the schematics are changed or the resource qualities of the specific ones that spawn are boosted, the guns will continue to be sub- par. Strikers and Tangles can be enhanced with the High Velocity feeders, and the SR Combat with Krayt, though the SR combat would require 3 identical tissues to make.

Kimogilas are vulnerable to stun, btw, and if you start shooting them with a tangle pistol (with something else tanking it, we hope), then you can wear them down very quickly.

I don't carry an SR combat yet, even though there are a very few targets (piket protectors, singing mountain clan witches) where it is theoretically better.

Now, they are nice guns, but I have invested a large amount of credits (meaning a large amount of play time) into gathering these weapons. The problem is that all but one of the above guns are marksmen pistols. As the masters of the handgun, we need something better than the DX2, or the DX2 needs to be brought more in line with the other elite weapons. Alot of the time, its not someones skills or smarts that determine the outcome of the fight, but the amount of DPS thay can reach with a particular weapon.
