Thread: This is seriously cool!

I just dumped Commando and it's way overrated flamethrower and picked up Pistoleer. The only block I have filled so far is Pistol Stances I. I should have enough skill points to eventually hit 0443.

I tried Pistol Melee Defense1 today and it rocks! I can /healthshot1 /healthshot2 /pistolmeleedefense1 and then shoot the hell out of a mob while it's down! Cool!

Compared to shooting a flamethrower and waiting to fire again while the mob is chewing on me, this is great!

Thanks to all the Pistoleers in this forum that convinced me (by virtue of your informative posts)to make the switch!

Glad you're happy with it ... just realize that you have to get within 7m of the mob, and once it gets back up you can't try to knock it down for 30 more seconds.

PistolMeleeDefense1 doesn't work very well against tough mobs unless you have a pet.

I'm also a Master Creature Handler, so the pet is a given.

PMD1's KD is perfect for the CH, since it allows you to KD a rogue attacker (or mask scent-breaking aggro), sic the pet, and run before it gets back up. By then your pet has engaged it and more than likely it'll stay on your pet rather than coming after you again, although with the new changes to CH, it still may come for you once again.

Bolmas are my favorite target of this, since they swarm and flee so much. And I PMD1'd an Ancient Bull Rancor last night after it aggroed me and wouldn't engage my pets, but not before it got its area-bleed off. It was cool seeing a big creature fall over as I was running away.

I typically lead off with a HS2, HS1, then Stopping shot till it's on top of me. Then pistol whip and BS2 till it gets back up. Then threaten shot to get it to aggro my pet. Then BS2 or SS depending on its HAM bars.

Mobs rarely last long enough to do a second pistolwhip.

I was pretty pleased with myself when i took down a pack of swarming dews. Lead off each one with the HS2, HS1, SS, PW, then about 3 BS2s and a threaten shot then heal and switch targets.

My probot could finish off the mobs in turn as i switched. The probot was about the only thing that saved me when I had no less than 5 dew chewing on my .... knees

Please, realise that this tactic typically works because you are CH (Mater CH to be accurate). Try it without a pet and come back to comment it.

CH is way overpowered and Master CH will be way more powerfull after this patch they call "nerf".

I'm starting to think that no one really want this game to be balanced, ppl only want to be the more powerful they can. Nothing is done for pistoleer because some ppl are thinking it is already very powerfull when 90% of his skills rely on either BH / Smuggler / Commando or CH ones.

Sad but true.

You're absolutely right, Dyriel. Very, very well said.

We have the most advantage, in PvP while fighiting other ranged profs, if we get in close. Whenever you duel a friend, charge in and pistol whip them down. then do circles around them blasting away. We have less of a penatly while moving (once you get up the marksmanship treE) so use this to your advantage. pistol whip2 doesn't knock down but it does pretty good damage.

Dyriel, this is why pistoleer only costs 92 skill points to master. The profession you would like already exists. Bounty Hunter is it. If you want to takeonly 1profession and still compete there it is.

If you want a profession complemented by others that combineto form an even more competitive character you have chosen wisely. Maybe you are just comfused on how the skill point system works?

Have to agree with the lead off oh HS1, HS2, Stopping shot. I have a macro set for this and it works great. The PM1 and get back while pet engages is also one of my favorite tricks. We may be mostly broken, but we do have a few tricks up our sleaves.

What about Rifleman then ? Can it dabble with another profession ? isn't it only 92 Skill Points too ?

Of course Master Pistoleer is only 92 Skill Points on the paper and we can use some other prof skills to be more efficient...but the fact MANY other profession can use Pistol too is just throwing Pistoleers in the trash because the tiniest enhance we can ask for will immediately enhance every other pistol user.

I perfectly understand how Skill Systems works, thanx for advice. Now YOU should realise Pistoleer is by far the more gimped of all "basic elite ranged combat profession", just because dabbling in it is VERY easy.

Just FYI :

- Rifle : 1 profession using it as Elite = Rifleman
- Carbine : 2 " " " = Carbineer & BH
- Pistol : 4 " " = Pistoleer - BH - Smuggler - Commando

This is WHY pistoleer is believed "very overpowered"...now all of those Profs are only using our skills to be better, in no way they are Pistoleers. Give us very powerfull moves near to mastery and split bonuses like what is prepared for CH and you'll see how different things can be.

Atm, Master Pistoleer is ONLY Skill Points sink, period. 3 Months I am Master and still hope something will be done...quite impatient now.
