Thread: Designers/Thunderheart: Pistoleers need some love (3 Suggestions)
I'm trying different professions now -- and coming from playing a Bounty Hunter, I have to say -- without a doubt -- that the Pistoleer profession is not where it should be.... it's almost a gimped profession.
I'm not a Master Pistoleer -- however, these are my obsevations so far :
Pistoleers need...
- Abetter pistol. You'd think Pistoleers would have a decent pistol...? However, the DX2 is not the pistol you're looking for. My suggestion is to the Pistoleer designer would beto improve the DX2... perhaps it should bea bit moreaccurate with about a 20%boost to its base high-end damage.
- To be able to target a specific HAM pool and be able to stun a target. Is there a great shot to target a specific HAM? I'm not talking a bleed. What about the ability to stun, etc.? I haven't gotten all the specials, but I don't think there is something to decentlytarget a specific pool in the target's HAM or to stun a target.Pistoleers should be able to target something like the action pool with Disarming Shot 1 and Disarming Shot 2. Addtionally, maybe Disarming Shot 1 and Disarming Shot 2 should have a chance to stun...? Or, better yet, introduce a "stun shot" in the Pistol Tactics tree... "Stun Shot" 1 at Intermediate Pistol Tactics I and and "Stun Shot" 2 at Master Pistol Tactics.
- Speed. I know that players can hit the speed cap; however, a Master Pistoleers should be a little faster than +74... perhaps +80 at Master.
As it stands now, I don't see how a Pistoleer can compete -- unless they have an UBER, off-the-hook krayt FWG5 that can oneshot kill a target in PvP (and that's about to get nerfed).
From playing a Bounty Hunter for several months, it's pretty clear Pistoleers need some improvements.... I believe the top 3 changes should be heavily considered and implemented by the designers.
thanks sky... I never dreamed how disadvantaged the Pistoleer profession was until I become one.
My hope is that the designers willimplement these suggestions.

Can't believe this guy was proposing changes to reduce creatures uses and finally enhance Master CH which is already the most efficient COMBAT prof in the game.
CH being a COMBAT prof, I think all is said...

Verbal combat... ROFL I like this idea.
But heres a suggestion that will balance a whole lot.
FIX SPEED

Maybe CH will get some pets able to use a pistol someday ? Then, do you think Thunderheart will care about pistol users ?

Agreed MCH is a very efficient combat support prof, but really sucks with no combat skills to back it up.
The changes/proposed changes to the ch skill tree were to balance people skimming off the best parts of the profession without having to master it. Though the people who moaned the most about pets were actually the ones who eventually suffered the most (max cl down to 10 for non-ch). Yes the profession needs balancing, but it is in need of fixes as much as pistoleer, everyone thinks it's just their profession that's broken.
In a nut-shell, even at MCH you are not that uber: Your pets disappear in combat frequently, they stop at server boundaries etc. Yes, when everything goes right it's fairly awesome and part of the game that I really enjoy. I fight with my pets btw... they are more to me than just meat shields.
However.... I still die plenty. ![]()

I can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear these things from an Ex-Bounty Hunter. For a long time we have been looking for some Dev love and everone else thinks we're just whining. Our profession needs some serious attention. At just MP, I always got smoked in PvP, and had a rough time with the higher level PvE. Now I'm a MP/MCH and I only get smoke 80% of the time. The other professions will dreed the day when MTPS works.
When I was a Bounty Hunter, I used to think that Pistoleers were just whining... you're right about that.
However, I quickly realized that the designers need to help the Pistoleer professionafter I decided to pursue Master Pistoleer.
Basically, if the designerswere to give Pistoleers...
- A better DX2 pistol (more accurate /+ ~20% boostto its possiblehigh-end damage / AP verified to be working)
- A tad more pistol speed (+80 total speed at Master Pistoleer--as opposed to +74 speed)
- A very decent attack to target a specific HAM (I suggestPisoleers need anaction pool attack)
- A state effect shot (likestunorsomething.)
...bundled with the+ defense bonuseson the Test Center. The profession would be able to decently compete. As it stands now, Pisoleers needsome majorhelp from the designers.![]()
Needless to say, you're right that Pistoleer is a gimped profession at the moment. Coming over from Bounty Hunter, you have got to feel seriously weak right now.
Nearly every single Pistoleer special is broken or useless at the moment. Our "defenses" are pretty much useless as well, and the Pistoleer-only pistol (DX2) sucks.
We've asked the Devs for fixes many times, but have been ignored for months. We'll keep trying. ![]()
