If I use pistol melee defense moves with my dx2 pistol does it could as doing kenitic damage like all melee attacks or just count as an acid hit like a regular move?

I've wondered that myself, to be honest.

No, it stays the same damage type as your weapon (energy, acid, heat, etc)

melee defence counts as what ever the attack is based upon as melee

so say if someone had a pike of poison or what not

you would have defences to that poison special

atleast "thats how its supposed to work"
