I know this wasn't working in the past.

Can anyone confirm if it has been fixed?

No it hasn't. This is actually a global problem that is affecting all AP weapons, apparently. It shows up more often with the DX2 because more creatures have a vulnerability to acid.

Well this really sucks in my noobish opinion. With the fwg5 being "changed" in the future the DX2 would be a decent fallback ifAP worked.Iguess all I can do is hopethey fix or enhance theDX2 somehow.

Actually i have never heard of or read a dev stating this was bugged at all. Armor piercing works now how it should realistically work.

An armor piercing round is designed to pierce armor then spread to do normal damage. This means on a target that has no armor whatsoever vs the round the round would slip through like a hot knife through butter doing less damage than if the target had armor.

The way the game works is if you have a dx2 and shoot at something with acid resist, you then see the armor piercing work. Against AR0 acid resist you get 25% bonus, against AR1 you just barely pierce and do normal damage, against AR2 you dont pierce all the armor and get a penalty of 50% and against AR3 you get 50% compounded 2x.

Again the way armor piercing really works this system makes sense.

DX2 armor piercing is working. This makes me sad the FWG5s are going to be weaker. Why? Because even by wearing bone armor all FWG5 damage is halved. But people don't understand AP and just think big numbers mean better, so they prefer FWG5 over DX2. So if someone hits my bone armor with FWG5 for 1000 points, I take 500 damage. If I have composite armor with 50% heat resist, they hit for 500, then half of that is taken by heat resist, so they actually hit for 250. If a DX2 hit me for 1000 on bone armor I would be hit for 1000. If my bone armor had 50% acid resist thenI would be hit for 500.

Also all armor has vulnerability. Like on composite it's vulnerable only to stun damage. So if I am hit for 1000 from a tangle pistol - stun damage, I would be hit for 1000 because the stun damage goes right through the armor's vulnerability, even though tangle pistol is not armor piercing.

This is all explained in way better detail on the Armorsmith Armor FAQ.

Bone armor does not protect against Heat, which is what the FWG does.

ALL armor, even bone, is considered AR1.

just trying to say i guess that most people look at the numbers on the FWG5 and say ' gimme that one ' without understanding armor piercing info, and now that dx2 is going to be more in use there will be more damaging people.

Okay, I agree with that. Weapons with big max damage numbers get all the attention. Sometimes things like min damage, damage type, etc. can be more important.
