Thread: Rifleman/Smuggler thinking about going Pistoleer

I'm a Master Rifleman/Master Smuggler post-cu, and more recently Pistoleer x4x4, to complete my template.

I'm wondering, though, roughly how much damage a Master Pistoleer does. Can anyone tell me their modified DPS on their guns?

Many thanks

Modified DPS isn't going to mean much. The key point is really that you will lose the high-damaging specials of rifleman, but gain the much lower SAC costs of pistoleer, allowing you to keep a stready stream of damage coming for a bit longer. And SAC is farily gun dependant (and food).

Not quite certain how it compares to a riflemans damage output, but the last timea rifleman did a serious attempt at outdamaging me, I think I actually won. Had less SAC left than he had, but quickdraw/bodyshot does a fairly nice amount of damage.

edit: That being said, my mod. DPS ouldn't help you much either I'm afraid, as I get speed mods from BH.

I only wondered what the modified DPS was because all pistols I've seen appear to have a lower damage range than rifles. Although I'm in it for the damage, it's often difficult for me to dish out much damage with rifles because my action drains too quickly.

If you want to function as a support person, go pistoleer. If you want to be the part of a team that kicks the ass, then stick with rifleman.

In the end, you will probably be using a rifle anyways just for the range!

Yeah I miss pistols too,

I like to run and gun so I was thinking about picking up BH x3xx for imp critical shot, Carbineer x4xx for the accuracy and imp leg shot, Pistoleer x4x4 for imp disarming shot, imp burst shot, imp fan shot and imp stopping shot,I'd keep Master Smuggler and Commando xx1x because you can apply any special with a rocket launcher which KDs. Imp concussion shot like that is great. A pistoleer that leads with burst shot and alternates imp crit and imp leg should do fairly well.

Haha thats great, i just logged into the pistoleer forums to ask the exact same question. Ive been a rifleman since birth, and my second prof has always floated around, now its smuggler. Pistoleer seems a much better compliment to smuggler then rifles. I dunno what to do! ive been sitting around on it for weeks.

Right now I'm Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler/ 4400 Rifleman and I'm pretty happy with it. Headshot tends to be more damaging with a pistol than any of my pistol skills are if you're looking for damage, plus you'll still be able to use the trandoshan hunting rifle for any long range needs...you know, like Concussion shot from 65 meters away...then waving at them...then casually laying on the ground and warming upsnipershot for fun. You can do that now with your current template, but you wouldn't lose that ability. You'd lose some speed, but it seems like speed slices are the easiest high level slice to come by.

ORyou hitwith pistoleer's stopping shot with a pistol(which won't break on damage)then do dive shot and land prone and do sniper shot...long story short, there are some interesting combos when you combine the 3, and they don't all have to end with sniper shot...even though it's fun.

Alternating between Body Shot and Head Shot with the basic ranged shot as your repeat attack keeps a constant flow of attacks going which is pretty nice.
